Why? Again, there is no reason why a psychologist can't get gainful employment. It may require getting an MA if she wants to work in counselling or getting some skills that can be married to her degree to get a job in the private sector. I hate to burst your bubble Vince, but most of the world works in professions other than stripping and computer programming  :rolleyes2:

I found job statistics for immigrants in Sweden.
81% of IT professionals who have immigrated to Sweden work in IT, only 47% lawyers still work as lawyers.
I couldn't find statistics about ex-psychologists, probably 10%.

Only 20% of new female immigrants find jobs during the first 3 years compared to 50% of male immigrants.

IT is unique, the global language in IT is English, and most people who come here to work in IT have been head hunted from overseas, so they literately are coming here to work. I work in the IT sector in Sweden, actually I run my own company, but I know a lot of Americans and Indians here working and most of them were head hunted due to a global shortage of highly competent IT expertise in certain sectors and the small pool of locally available talent - only 9 million people here in Sweden, yet the IT sector is booming.
My search was going so well, then life intervened... but I'm back!

But, do you agree with Vince that only IT people can find jobs and that few women will even find jobs in IT in Sweden?

IT females can easily find jobs too. Unfortunately, there are few women in IT, mostly designers and support.

I don't want to say that being a shrink is bad. It's just very difficult to transfer this profession into another country.
