I have to make a confession that may shock some and shatter the world of others. A isn't happy 24/7. She doesn't smile when she sleeps. She doesn't smile when she's ill. She doesn't smile after I go #2 and leave the bathroom door open. I tried to convince her it's the smell of a real MAN but she didn't buy it. Now I just blame it on the food she cooks for me.

This summer we went to a wedding and it was about 100 degrees F outside. A decided to test the water in the pool below.

A's been back for awhile. That's why I've been gone for awhile. During the presidential debates she watched very little but from what she heard, she liked Romney better. After the election she thought maybe Obama was the right choice since the majority of Americans voted for him. I don't talk much politics with A since she's not ready for deep discussions so I put it to her simply,... most young Americans voted for Obama. Most old Americans voted for Romney.  Who do you think would vote for selfish reasons or vote to benefit future generations?  Who do you think has more life experience and wiser to run a country? The old or young? A said old.

Since coming home, A has become a better housekeeper. She also created a few projects for me. Painting some rooms, new curtains, and remodeled our master bathroom. I told her it's going to take more than a day to remodel the bathroom and she asked me "Why so long? What is my problem?" She doesn't like to use the other two bathrooms in the house. I told her she's lucky to have a man that can fix everything in the house. Some guys can't fix anything. The old toilet and sink has to be removed and to paint the bathroom takes a day including dry time. I bought everything I needed and started on a Saturday morning removing old sink, toilet, mirror, base cove, door and then painted room. Next day I installed linoleum floor, base cove, toilet, new sink and plumbing and mirror, towel rack and toilet paper holder. 2 days, new bathroom, and a very happy wife = happy husband.

great photos, billy!

I'll take that as a compliment of my expertise as a photographer! Actually A should get some credit for the photos. She did a little modeling when she was younger and knows how to strike a pose.

LOL. I'm going to do you a favor and turn you down. Proving to a lady you're a MAN is a solo act! But.....if you have any jobs you need help with that doesn't included a toilet, I'd consider it.

Forgot to add. A and I got an interview in a few days. Got to bring in evidence we're living together such as bank statements and utility bill with both our names on it. We also have an anniversary today! A came to America exactly one year ago Nov 18, 2011.

Good news...........A passed her  interview and got her green card. I should correct that. I passed the interview  and A got her green card. I studied other peoples experiences on the internet  and learned what questions may be asked but on our interview I was asked more  questions than A.
We sat in a waiting room and the interviewer calls me to his office first  and told A to wait. The interviewer asked me about our relationship and how we  met. questions about our current life and proceeded to ask me personal questions  as if he was intrigued by our relationship.
He asked me why I chose a young wife. I told him I dated many women, many  older than I but I felt A was wife material. He asked how a young woman can be  wife material. I told him she's happy and cheerful which means she's mentally healthy, kind, polite, and very family oriented. Those  traits aren't affected by age. He mentioned there are older women with those  traits so why I chose A. I told him I didn't choose A. Men chase women but women  choose the man. I did have a say in whether or not the relationship was going to  happen but I didn't rush in. I told him A was Living in Libya and vacationing in  Ukraine and invited me there. I didn't accept immediately. I told her I wanted  to know more about her as a person and her goals in life. The interviewer told  me he read that in our correspondence. I was surprised, I thought our stuff  didn't get read past the embassy.
The interviewer asked me what my family and friends thought, did they say  "Right on! Way to go!". I told him "no, they were cautious at first and  questioned A's motivations but after meeting her they thought I made an  excellent choice. When you talk to my wife is an  wonderful person. Although she's young but she has many fine qualities and of course  she's beautiful. A man would have to be a fool to pass a woman like her up  regardless of her age."
At the end of the interview, I was asked to show photos. I brought over 20  in and some showed A at family functions and holiday parties with her embracing  my parents and nephews and nieces. The interview looked at just over half the  photos and said "that's enough, let's go bring your wife in."My interview lasted 30 minutes. A's  interview lasted 5 and she was asked standard questions such as if she was doing  drugs or a prostitute.
Happy birthday Billy !

Thank you!!! Where's my present? Actually my birthday is coming up soon. I'll be turning 43 but I don't act and look my age, People mistake me for being 63.

Here are some photos of A on a south Washington State beach. The last photo is of us at the end of the Lewis and Clarck trail in Oregon.

Billy,

It has been a real treat reading about your extended journey.  This thread is the real reason I came on this board.  I know the answers to most of the travel/operational/scam type issues that one comes across.  But you have painted a picture of a newer couple adapting to life in these United States and the true happiness that can be found if one looks hard enough.  I congratulate you as life seems to have smiled down on you.  We all should be able to learn much from that which Billy has shared.  Both the young and the young at heart.

Hope to hear lots more in the future and look forward to hearing any posts that concern the patter of little feet.

great photo report Billy.
Congrats on the green card.

We had the perfect summer in western Wa this year.
I hope you tell A that it was a once in a lifetime summer  LOL

Just Curious,
Does A have any idea of the history of all these places and people like Lewis and Clark?

I am curious as to what is A. doing with her time in the US? What are the plans for her future? She has been in the US for over a year now. Is she going to school? To ESL classes? Any plans for college? If yes, what does she want to study?

She looks very happy, good job Billy!

Billy,

It has been a real treat reading about your extended journey......................

Thanks for your words Jon. Some of the best reading I've enjoyed when I first came to these type of forums were from happily married people.

We had the perfect summer in western Wa this year.
I hope you tell A that it was a once in a lifetime summer  LOL

A few photos below of a nice morning summer walk at a park.

Does A have any idea of the history of all these places and people like Lewis and Clark?

I've had to educate her on Lewis and Clark but I'm surprised that she already knows a lot about American history, maybe more than the average American.

I am curious as to what is A. doing with her time in the US? What are the plans for her future? She has been in the US for over a year now. Is she going to school? To ESL classes? Any plans for college? If yes, what does she want to study?

Right now she's just a homemaker. I should push her harder because that is not her goal. It's been over a year since she's been here and she still hasn't taking her written test to get a drivers permit. Maybe spring or next fall she will attend college. She doensn't need ESL classes since her English is good... so good she doesn't have that sexy accent most you ladies have. Her goal now is to study business administration in college.

She looks very happy, good job Billy!

Thank you but I will admit there are other factors that contribute to her happiness. She is happy with her environment and where she lives. She considers America her home and she wants to buy a jean jacket with the American flag on the back.

Not everything is perfect though. Her first friend here she met at a beauty salon turned out bad. A learned her friend smokes marijuana, stole drugs in the past, and has an anger problem. After her friend yelled at her for 20 minutes one day, A dumped her. A forgave her friend's marijuana use as long as she didn't do it around her but the anger issues A couldn't deal with. A doesn't like drugs and never did any. She was not happy our state passed a law legalizing marijuana recently. Since then one of my friends father started using it and a teenage son of another friend and his friends got caught using it. The teenagers argued it is legal and no big deal. A was surprised the teenagers had no shame or guilt but figured the new law gave the kids the impression it's okay to do drugs.

Right lake, wrong end. Gene Coulon park is on the south end of Lake Washington. Beautiful park that has swimming, boating, barbequing, playing sports, and restaurants.

Here's a few Christmas photos of A. 1st photo is of here under our Christmas tree and to answer a question on your mind, "NO, the presents aren't all for me." My sisters and parents decided to have their families and kids open presents and celebrate at our house. 2nd photo is at my mom's Christmas tree and 3rd next to my aunts car.

In January we went to Missouri to vist relatives there. Some relatives live in Buffalo which is the biggest town in Dallas country with 2400 people. A got to see Amish and Menonites. Amish live like they did 200 years ago not adapting to technology. Menonites dress like they did 200 years ago and adopted some technology such as clothes and only the men get to wear more modern clothes called overalls. We shopped at an Amish market buying homemade jams, pies and a rabbit. Rabbit, like frogs, tastes like chicken.

I like the Mercedes. What a stylish car!

A is lovely and seems happy to me.  Her appearance did not change at all.  All the FSU appearance traits are still with her. Does she intentionally retain those characteristics (bright lipstick, wearing tights and high heels while taking morning walks in a park)?
