Trying to find out if she is real...

Hi guys!  It's been a long time since I've been here.  I've tried this venture in the past... twice... and both times decided to stop my search for a while for various reasons.  Well, I'm talking to someone again.  This time from RussianCupid (because I learned to stay away from agencies).


I first met her when she sent interest in me, and then I sent interest back and started writing to her.  She doesn't speak English, so I use a translator to speak with her in Russian.  We've been sending each other messages for a few days now... and have moved to email.  She wants me to visit her, which is not a problem for me... if she's real.  I don't want to waste my money on the trip if she isn't real.  I think the fact that she is asking me to visit and hasn't asked me for money is a good indication that she very well may be real.  However, I asked her to chat with me on Skype, and she said she can't because she doesn't have a camera and mic. 


So I started doing a little research just to see if she checks out.  I hope I don't come across as a stalker or anything... because I respect people's privacy and would never "stalk" anyone.  However, for my own security, I feel I need to know if this girl is for real.  I tried to find her on Facebook and VK.  No luck with Facebook, but I found her images with a different name in VK.  I saw this as a red flag... but then I translated her VK page and noticed one of her friends was laughing about her changing her name and using fake names... so it might not be the red flag I thought it was.  Her VK page, however, has not been touched for about 2 years... so I doubt I'll get a response from her there.  However, this also matches the photos she has sent me in email, as the date is part of the filename... which indicates the photos are about 2 years old.   I also tried to use the IP trace on her email just to make sure it was from Russia and not Africa... but she uses gmail (like I do)... and I can't seem to trace the IP.  So that idea was a dead end.


So far, I haven't found any way to prove she is who she says she is... nor have I found a way to disprove it.  Does anyone have any helpful ideas?  Or am I being too paranoid?

I would never visit a person without visual confirmation at the least so you should recommend she get a camera of perhaps if she has a friend with one, you can set up a chat ahead of time. If she is serious about meeting, she would be willing to work on this. If not, then just move on.
 
Many women on the Cupid sites use different names on their profiles. That fact the her photos are more than 2 years old is a red flag. Again, without video confirmation, tell her you are unwilling to make the trip.

Nah, do all the research you feel the need to do... As we have just discovered recently RW certainly have no problems researching as much info as the can about us... fair is fair..

I know nothing about RussianCupid...  is that the site which used to be Russianeuro or something like that? 


I'd suggest getting her on skype some , and telephone 3way with one of our illustrious commercial members who can help -- AnastasiaAsh, Eduard, Stirlitz, Russiangal, are a few who come to mind immediately -- who can also give you a clue as to whether she's for real.


That above is the best action.. get all of her contact info, then contact her..

I know this is a silly thing, but I have used it and actually works.  If she is really telling the truth about not having a camera, and she would use one if you gave her one, use a gift card from your local supermarket, and register it for online use.  Then give her that information.  (You can even put her name on the gift card for online use.)  She can then get a camera/microphone locally, either through the internet or from a local store.  We're talking $100.00 here to save a thousand.  And if it works, then you actually get to move your relationship that much closer.

She has no access to your financial information.  Even the address that you register the gift card with is not verified so you do not need to disclose addresses.

Now, here's the dig.  Some women in FSU countries simply aren't sophisticated.  If you tell them to buy on the internet, they would rather say "so long".  But if she is really trying to make that connection, you have given her an out.

The VISA/Mastercard gift cards available at your local grocery stores are for between 20 and 500 dollars.  You pay a onetime fee of between 2.95 and 5.95 to activate them.   Then they work just like a credit card.  But you have to activate them for ONLINE USE.

I have a friend in Russia that I actually gave a card to for a birthday present.  He really appreciated it and sent me a picture of he and his girl with the stuff they had bought.

Oh, funny story using VK:  A friend of mine wanted to date a woman from Russia.  I could tell from the start that she was VHM.  But she had an angelic face.  So we got her to tell him her last name.  I did a VK lookup and also on the internet. 

It turns out that she modeled on the internet.  And her pictures were all over, some without clothes on.   Then we found her on VK and it related back to a striptease site.  At least she told us her correct last name.

Yes, that's correct!  LW, it's FREE for all Russian ladies, so they have nothing to lose.  They could be fake or real.

I have to disagree with you there.  If she is really serious about meeting him, she needs to work harder to make it work without ever receiving money, gift card, or what you have mentioned.    If she is fake, then LW would still waste $100.

Thanks for the advice, guys!  I'll try to find a way to get her on camera.  I'm not sure what I'll do if she really can't get access to one... but I'm not going make the trip without at least knowing she's for real.


Also, some of you might be wondering how I found her VK page without knowing her real name.  I did an image search.  If you don't know how to do that, it can come in very handy.  To use the image search, go to the main Google page, and then click on "Images" at the top.  At the end of the search bar, there's a little icon of a camera.  Click the camera.  Then you can either provide a URL to an image, or upload an image.  Google will try to find the same image on other sites, and will also try to give you sites with similar images.  Very useful!  Her VK page popped right up!

I find that hard to believe.  I just tried the site.  Uploaded a pic that I knew was also on a big social site.  The search turned up 60 or so pics.  Many  of them weren't even of the same gender, the same race, some were two persons together, were wearing completely different types of clothes, had different colored hair, etc.

NONE were the correct match.

It doesn't work every time.  But it works often enough for me that I find it a VERY useful tool.

In Phillipines, almost every girls (95%) have access to use the webcam (either at home or at the Internet cafe).  I get very suspicious when "very beautiful model-look" ladies do not have webcam, so probably ugly or ladyboys lol
