1st: Nina and me in Simferopol, 2012, beginning car trip to Sevastopol and Chornomors'ke. Morning pic; she doesn't have 'street' makeup on (she'd kill me if she knew I was posting this!).
2nd: Nina in afternoon, more awake than 1st pic.
3rd: Previous AW GF, Robin, and I receiving 5 mile race trophies, 2011 (she's competitive marathoner, 3:50 to 4 hr range)
4th: Previous AW GF, Suzi, and I, on the way to play tennis in Punta Cana, 2012 (she's competitive half-marathoner, 1:45 to 2 hr range)

I am not a very competitive runner, but I was Robin's and Suzi's running workout partner (8 to 10 miles per workout), the last two years, pre-Nina. In my 60's, maintain 9 min/mile workout pace, as opposed to 7 in my 30's. After being with those two, and before meeting Nina, had to have one of my knees scoped, but it's 100% now. Nina doesn't run, just walks miles every day like most UW's. As soon as we have found the flat to settle into, we'll join the Luhans'k Tennis Club; I think she'll pick it up rapidly.

Photos from past relationships are included because they were more athletic friend-partnerships, rather than very romantically oriented, and because I do not have any athletic photos with Nina. Although in their 60's, my AW GF's were fine hard bodies, with eager libidos...so I did not turn to UA out of desperation,
rather I was looking for a mutually supportive, live-together relationship, i.e.: marriage. My AW ex-GF's are well off, financially independent and were only interested in athletic activity partners. They were both averse to the idea of a permanent, live-in relationship, but they had no problem having me fly tens of thousands of miles (I live in Colorado, Robin on the West Coast, Suzi on the East Coast) to work out (with occasional performance rewards) with them for a week or so.

cc3, most Eastern European women aren't heavily into makeup to the same extent as AW.  She is pretty and seems comfortable in your presence.  I (jokingly) think that the use of warpaint on some AW has to do with American's native Indian heritage, or at least that is my opinion of things sometimes in the land where cosmetics seem to be sold by the gallon.

Nice photos, by the way.  Natural beauty doesn't need much refinement.  You and I on the other hand.....

PS, in agreeing also with some of Boethius' thoughts, often the way RW/UW describe intimate isn't necessarily physical.  We all must remember that unless a gal has lived in a Western country and spoken English in the manner that it is spoken in our country, she is mentally translating while she speaks.  Sometimes as the brain is translating, there is a mental "word search" going on in her vocab catalog.  Intimate can be a broadly defined term in language although locally it may be used more often in the physical sense.  Unless I heard the Russian or Ukrainian terms used in a specific context, I'd think of it as she being comfortable/relaxed/at ease with you and in searching for English words those phrases might fit perfectly as to what a lady means when using the English word intimate.

That being said, congratulations because from the photos it seems that she indeed is comfortable/relaxed/at ease with you and that is truly what matters.

To be completely objective, I showed your photos to my husband. He placed your age at early 70-ies, her around 40.
You look like a runner of that age to me. You and her look like father and daughter. Very typical MOB couple photo. I was just expecting a George Clooney+10 years from what you've posted. Glad that you buy what she tells you

Mendy, I have spent much time in Moscow, your city.  If that were the only city I visited in the FSU, I would agree with you.  However, I have traveled though Ukraine and many UW wear makeup thicker than a stack of blini.  Also, the eyeliner on some UW resembles the eye black worn by baseball outfielders.

You might try, even with your limited social skills, to give others the same benefit of doubt.

I interpreted Ade's post as a general comment, not one directed at you, in particular, Mendy.  I too am an Orthodox believer, baptized as a child, have attended church my whole life, even in the USSR where informants (usually "nice" little old ladies) hung out in churches and tried to get believers to say something that could lead to arrest.

I'd have a question for you cc3.
 
You write that a drawback in your relationships with AW was mainly in the fact that they regarded you mostly as an activity friend and were not interested in a long term live in relationship with you. What you described looks actually not as a GF but as an activity friend, provided that no intimacy.
 
Could I suggest a hypothetical here? What if Robin were more feminine looking, with long wavy hair, wearing high heels and dresses outside of her athletic activities, and romantically involved with you? What if she would desire you? Would you still prefer Nina to her?
