Sorry, but call me skeptical. As for the working from home, I would say that this applies to few people. Also, in most cases, I expect that a person working from home overseas will eventually lose their networks and then their job. Plus, if the work can easily be done overseas, eventually somebody will figure out that it is cheaper to offshore it to India
The irony is she thought the economy in ukraine was doing better than most western places because they were used to being broke but werent in debt for everything so were better off. She had a point
I don't know about Ukraine, but I do know that debt is quite common in Russia and if you did not inherit an apartment, you have no choice but to get a mortgage as well.
A lot has changed, the eastern economies are improving as ours get worse, a lot of women are no longer interested in migration for economic or visa reasons, and simply want a good man.

As for the economy improving, I have my doubts that Ukraine's economy is booming. I was actually surprised today that my sister-in-law was telling my wife that there are rumours going around Russia that there will be soon another default. I was surprised as they tend to get their new from Channel 1 and thus tend to know what the state wants them to know. Plus, I was reading on vkontakte the information circulating highlighting that Russia now has record foreign debt: over $700 billion, more than the reserves, and the fear expressed was that if the latter was used to pay the former there would be no money left for pensions and salaries for state employees...
