Hm. The first time I read something like that was in 2004 when I first joined a certain long forgotten forum. And I think threads like that would appear there every six months or so, then here and at other RW boards. Yet people are coming to Russia and Ukraine... and I am still having customers. So are you saying guys who marry a Russian women are expecting her to be a housekeeper, washer-up and child minder never wanting to  find a job?
Im just wondering becouse there is so much talk about guys from the states searching for a Russian women under the illusion that she just wants to marry and become the happy housewife stuck at home all day

Your 100% correct on the issue with Russian men and their drink problems and it is not just drink its the trips to the local sauna with some hookers and returning home to the family at any time they feel fit, I recently fired my Russian partner for these exact reasons. Many times I have been out with him and his gf, he spent most of the evening getting sloshed and thinking how he can escape to some whore house, its just the Russian mentality! And though I love the country I would never mix business with a Russian guy again.

Its totally correct!! The Russian bride business will be over in a few more years, firstly borders are going to be opened up Russians will not need the help of a Western guy to travel not that the majority do now in any case.
Secondly have many of you visited Moscow or St petersburg as of recent? I have been living here a fair time now todays modern Russian women is very different to that of a decade or so back. Many have good jobs and careers mention "Russian brides" and most will laugh, just like they will laugh at some stupid foreign guy arriving in any large city

No they do not represent every city but a fair few including the larger cities in Siberia, things change fast I do not remember even five years ago sitting on the metro seeing so many young kids sat there playing on their  i-pads and expensive phones. Electrical goods have come down in price comparable to the rest of Europe along with many other items all making a considerable difference to life in general. I have travelled all over Russia and have a pretty good view of things of course Im not so stupid to think the same about rural Russia. Next week Im in belarus so maybe will have a report from there

Well once I over stayed my visa! and was nearly deported I could only catch last train to Tallin that crossed the border at 3am my visa expired at 12pm. I was escorted off the train taken to the border control (looked after very well I must say by the Russians) put on the train back to St Petes to make an exit visa, that took 5 long weeks! In which time they kept my passport and was not officially allowed to travel within Russia but I still managed to blag my way onto the trains An experience not to be missed:)

I agree dating market will thrive for a very long time, because there is a problem without a solution.   Christian dating and women that love fat guys would be a profitable niche.

How will Western countries benefit by opening borders to the Russians?

Germany is already a big business partner with Russia as are many European countries, the shopping malls are full of UK and Western European stores. Europe wants to do business with Russia it has a big economy with a huge population with an ever increasing disposable  monthly income. I would presume opening the borders with Russia will only help with things more. Im not an expert on this, but it will happen. The world is becoming a smaller place to do business all the time.

Open the borders between Germany/Europe and Russia and you will see compamies moving to Russia and exporting back to GermanyEurope.

I've always thought the demise of the FSU marriage agency was directly tied to the availability of the internet in the FSU. Fifteen years ago many people there just didn't have it. Now they all have it. Its just eliminated the middle man.
What's interesting about FSU agency's is that the self proclaimed honest ones never last long. The blatantly dishonest ones seem to do much better.
With the internet, communication all over the planet is easy and affordable for most. Marriages with men and women from different cultures will go up in the future.

I think that we should also keep things in perspective. In the 90's, there was an economic crisis so many women were desperate to get out. Also, FSU women knew little about the outside world which added to the fantasy. But women may not have been sincerely interested in most of the men. You could go to the socials and get a fiancee visa commitment from a woman in two days. Then, in the early 2000's, the dollar was dropping and economic growth in the FSU was booming so women were re-considering their options. Today, economic growth is slow and the newness of meeting foreigners has died now. So, we now have an environment where women can go slower and consider their dating options.

No! The US has millions of single guys, unfortunately many guys from the US are stuck in a time warp!( Im not having a dig at ALL US guys here) They still think Russia is part of the Soviet Union, they still think the KGB will be following your every move, I have even heard personally from many guys who compare Russia to Afganistan And many more even stupid stories than that! Its like you live down in the deep South with your parents until your forty and realise it really is time to get married, so what do you do? Go get your self a Russian bride! I mean you have spent most of your life listening to the Propaganda on TV that the US churns out about Russia so your partly brainwashed into thinking its still the easy option to do,problem solved.
So there will always be plenty of Guys looking for "Russian brides" probably hundreds of thousands. And it is probably the reason why every month there are 165,000 searches in Google for the word "Russian brides" alone. Unfortunately the Fabled "Russian bride" is not such an easy catch. And disappearing fast.
