The train and metro is a bit overwhelming for the non speakers. I eventually tried it on my second trip at DME when I had a lot of time to kill. If one is on a short schedule, it's probably not a good idea

Given Moscow traffic, it is usually faster in many cases as you are less likely to be stuck in traffic.

And how do you suggest a person manage two large suitcases, a carry on, rain coat, umbrella, etc.?

Learn to pack lighter ;)

No doubt it's much faster but, somethings are worth what you pay for them and a taxi into Moscow from DME is IMHO, one of them. Even with the easy accessible train. But, I don't speak or read the language.

$100 for 2 mile trip. The young guy in his new Mercedes didn't mind after I say "$100??!!" He would have found another idiot with a large suitcase to scam.

You really were taken for a ride!  ;D   Good luck for this trip.

In the ML vein of smart ass remarks: hire 3 gypsy kids to carry your luggage and pay for their fare into the metro. AMEX insures you for lost or delayed items anyway.  ;)

C'mon, Misha, the average American can't possibly travel with less than that for a one-week trip!

Yes, they must feel obliged to bring a heavy down parka in July for fear that they will freeze  :o
