So I had dinner with a longtime friend of mine. He's Russian and lived there for about 30 years, he's been in the states for 15. I was excited to tell him about my new contacts in his country and this is what he said:
None of that is real. Those girls will tell you anything they can to get your passport then leave you once they get it. If you go to Russia, after you take them to your house, a Russian guy in a black leather jacket will come knocking on the door to demand money for the prostitute you just slept with. Girls all same, find one here with job. He also said " don't go to Russia, only factories and churches, you like churches?"
Now I take what he says with a grain of salt because he is from old soviet times and has never gone back since he left. But he himself is married to a Russian girl that looks like one from EM. In any case he kinda got my hopes down.
It seems from your posts that there are many success stories. But how often have you seen the other side of it like he says?
I have to admit that once upon a time I have told to my friend something very close to that when he confessed he is communicating with Ukrainian girl from some online marriage agency. Reason? It was so obvious how naive he is, how fast he lost track of reality and sank in the fantasy of 30 years younger hottie being genuinely interested in him while he pays to write/read her emails. How do you gently tell a friend that with his nativity he will undergo plucking and gutting as chicken if he gets involved with FSUW? It is easier to explain how cruel, materialistic, money sucking and shallow we are .
Adding in high risk of being mobbed by gangsters will provide a dramatic touch that hopefully makes him reconsider go on his own wondering around foreigner country without knowing local language and even basic understanding of mentality in search of genuine love.
