Id like to add another thing on Bi-Polar from my personal experiances.  They have near total breakdowns over even mildly stressful events.  Watch how your woman handles a bad situation.

It is always prudent to gain as much information regarding your potential partner's personality as possible.  Language issues certainly make personality assessment more arduous, but this is critical before you proceed with the process. Noone likes to be blindsided by a potential psycholgical disorder.

I was married to an AW for 17 years who is bi-polar.  We had four children together.  Of course, I did not know about this before we were married--but there were signs!  The problem really got bad right after our first child was born.  I guess the chemistry and change in hormones triggered it.  I wish I had all the money spent on Psychiatrists, Psycologists, therapy, drugs, etc.  One of our children was in special education, emotionally impaired throughout school.  He is now 27 years old, on SSI and never held a real job. 

I would suggest running very quickly away from an woman you suspect is bi-polar.

I was involved with an Ukrainan woman who is a very talented Artist, very emotional and has mood swings.  However, I would not consider her to be bi-polar.  I did find out that she does not always tell the truth--so that ended the relationship!

I had a serious relationship with a woman suffering from bi-polar at an incredible level for more than a year.

A friend of her has told that she tought my wife was "cured" because her "blank periods" had disappear while being with me. (she was divorced and with a child)

But there are signs that I can see now, and in the future. However and if you don't know then you can be easily fouled. She now lives in the Netherlands with a naive guy that thinks he found a gem.

This is a very serious problem because my ex-wife just fouled a famous phsyquiatric for more than a year. There are only 3 persons who know her, I her ex-husband and her ex-best friend so you can see the level.

Apart from this she decides her future trough Tarot cards...the cards told her that she was going to be happy with this new husband...after being with some 10 men before...

One of the things about Bi-polar from my personal experiances with it in being married to one (its also genetic so take a good look at how mom acts) is that it is VERY hard to maintain "Normal" behavior for very long if at all.  The most noted and easily recognized issue issue would be the crying bouts.  They will last hours... and will be often.  I figured "hey, cryings a chick thing... this one just does it even more."   Look for obessive behavior this is another key.  Are they fixated on a hobby and do they act like a child if they are unable to engage in said activity?  In the case of my Ex it was dancing (hence my extreme hatred for it) and shopping.  I dont think that Maxx's ex (based on his description) was bi-polar, just a typical garden variety GCG.  Keep in mind, a Bi-polar woman isnt honestly out to get you (at least until someone outside focuses them on being out to get you).  But lack of intent does not make them anymore dangerous.  If anything it makes them more dangerous because they are unpredicable.

You are right Daknack she was not bi-polar. She was rather consistant in her moods. The only thing "bi-polar" about her was the "bi" part of that. She was one way (warm, caring) in Russia and a completely another (icy cold) in America. Even here she rarely argued and only once lost her temper. Without the ice, restrictive complexes, money scamming and possible infidelity she was rather easy to live with. 

Women who are mentally ill are quite dangerous but are more easily spotted. Thus less dangerous over all that the truely criminally motivated. My ex-was just not too smart and was blinded by her arrogance. She considered me as a lesser and incapable of outwitting her. She never thought I would secretly get a divorce, but thought she would 1) Get my money into her corner 2) Get her Green Card the normal way, then she would make the move to end the marriage.

The other RW I knew before my ex was bi-polar and possibly psychotic. She got into one of her moods because I didn't fill out the I-129F fast enough and actually spit on the ground and said "I HATE YOU!".... lovely
