I'm IMPRESSED! The winning time at the 2012 Olympics for the men's 5000 m run was 13:41.66. http://www.olympic.org/olympic-results/london-2012/athletics/5000m-m

If you have run a 5k at the pace of 6:30-2= a 4:30 mile pace, that would have your 5k time at 13:57, or only about 15 seconds slower than the 2012 Olympic gold medal winner.

Impressive is right but I can believe it. The London time was almost a full minute slower that the WR and even slower than the US high school record. Muzh would've been dusted by a 17 year old kid.  :P  but he's still my hero LOL!

I think TomT is right. Something was wrong during that 2012 run.

I agree that it is not so hard. Dealing with Russians is much easier IMHO than Anglo-Canadians. Both Russian men and women (with a few exceptions) tend to be much more up front with their thoughts and feelings. A woman who is interested in a man will rarely play coy in my experience and will make it clear what her feelings are, if only because she will worry that another woman will do so first  >:D The problem is not that men can't gauge Russian women, rather they delude themselves when their intuition is perfectly telling what they should know. Hence the endless questions "is it cultural" which is shorthand for "I know this is bad behaviour, but I won't admit it, so I will grasp as straws to justify it because I really, really want to believe."

jone,

In thinking about this more, there is one parameter where I measured well above the average man.  It is an important measure.  Namely, I had time to travel because I am retired.  Thus, I did not need to fast track a relationship.

I consider fast tracking of marriage to be risky, especially considering the cultural, language and age barriers to understanding each other.   However, that is the nature of the endeavor for most AM.    I never would recommend it, yet most men must do it, as they sort through limerance vs. love, etc.

In the fast track case, success will indeed demand an innate understanding of  women, something that most men perhaps lack.    Also important are sheer luck, a lot of hard work, and a woman who enters the relationship in good faith.

So there, I agree with you but not for the narrow area we discussed earlier.  Friends?

This is also an important factor. I started with this one ON, fast tracking my first serious relationship due to bad advices given by my best friend of the city (married to a russian lady).
Finally, because i invested a lot of time (more than two months per year abroad) i quicly turn off this factor. I took time to know my future wife during a reasonable length of time.
But you are right a lot of AM are risky, the first reason for US guys is the lack of time, but not only.
Even if you are not in hurry, a nice understanding of women (after a time of adaptation to understand the FSU specifics) is a real asset.

And as you said : "sheer luck, a lot of hard work, and a woman who enters the relationship in good faith."
My wife and i are the pure combination of this.

In Mexico, an engineer and scientist is respected. In Russia, as well. Here, the pimply faced, weird nerd stereotype dominates.

I don't know where you get your info about Russia. You are thinking about India probably. I happened to have grown up among scientists and engineers in Russia. They don't make lotsa $$$. They are not respected. On the other hand, a large number of guys in science do not have pimpled faces, and many do extreme sports when not studying. Few of them listen to their mothers and aunts. In Russia they are sort of like garbage men here. Muscular, outdoorsy, smelly, almost always broke and almost all of them are buddhists (by inevitable choice, because life is constant suffering, etc).  :cluebat:

You are right about the nerd stereotypes here though. I only learned that people who are serious about their education must like comic books and superheroes here, in North America.

I get a big kick out of "Big Bang Theory," (and Ochka finally grew to like them, but it took her quite a while) but I don't relate at all to their obsessions with games, comics, etc.

Maybe I just like them because they are so much different than me.

The Indian guy is my favorite, and Penny is my least favorite.

Even a guy in his thirties, as YB is, is not going to be going to Palm Springs on spring break to find a wife.

This is a joke, yes?   I was just there.  Nothing but poofs (blue men) and old people (older than me).

To celebrate my fraternity brother's big birthday, his wife rented a historic hacienda, 6BR plus casita.  Five acres of gardens on the side of a mountain with saltwater pool, meditation areas, well spring (hence the name springs in Palm Springs).  Appropriately furnished.  I felt like a movie star on a long weekend in the 1930s.  Instead of Carole Lombard, I was with my Cossack woman.

Been there twice before.  My gay ex-BIL introduced me to the mayor (Sonny) and we toured his house.  Little guy (Sonny, not his house as it was large).

The route ran around Lake Merced and when I got there, the ocean breeze was blowing cold. The sweat I was drenched with started to dry and consequently, the mesh started to rub against my nipples that had hardened because of the cold air. Holy Batman! Between these and the dried 'salt' off my sweat adding to the mix, let's talk about torture, why don't we...

UPDATE
*******

I am at the end of my visit to Kharkov, just about to catch the early morning flight out.
Since 9 days ago when Mila first warned me about that pro-dater woman and started assisting me, I had first meetings with 6 ladies introduced to me by Mila. Of the 6 ladies, there was serious mutual interest with one of those ladies so I met up with that lady 2 more times.

I really don't know how this is going to play out; the earliest I can return to Kharkov is May next year. That lady has very limited English so for the moment our written communications will have to rely on translating software. Additional complication is that lady has a young child; for me I have never dated a woman with children before. I guess time will tell whether we have enough compatibility to overcome these hurdles.

Once again I would like to express my gratitude to Mila and her husband Anton for coming to my assistance on short notice.

So, what did it for you? Her boobs, her ass, her legs, her age?

How can you define "serious mutual interest?"

We both asked each other some probing questions, rather than just gloss over things as you will do in a meeting that you think will not lead to anything.

On the 2nd meeting I paid for a wind jacket for her son, the next time we met she got me a gift in return.

The lady was not an ounce over 100 pounds, I am definitely attracted to ultra skinny women like that.

All I can say is work hard on that communication.

And good luck, mate. ;)
