Our Thailand journey
« on: May 06, 2006, 06:12:31 PM »
Hi,

After providing many replies and viewing many other reports, I post one of ours. My fiancee and I choose Thailand due to climate, favorable visa, and interest. Exotic country with my wonderful beautiful woman, great vacation. Only complaint is too little time. Our trip includes Bangkok, Phuket, and Phi Phi island. Here we stand at the Grand Palace and she wears a skirt covering her shins as the Thai Palace requires.

Small island in the chain of Phi Phi islands.  We enjoy snorkeling and see many colorful fish and corals.  Monkeys live in the trees.

We rode this elephant into the jungle on a short trip. Rather unstable as we perched in a bench lashed to its back so we shortened the trip. My fiancee was relieved to feel solid ground until the elephant cornered us near the bananas. Requiring an additional 100 baht ($2.5) to humor the benevolent (more clever than any) beast.

Great photos!  Bangkok is on my short list for destinations for my August trip. Bangkok,, Hong Kong, Istanbul, somewhere on the Caspian or Black Sea, or Moscow. I am concerned about the heat and humidity in both Hong Kong and Bangkok at that time of the year. Your photos make Thailand look very inviting.

PeeWee,

Thanks, certainly a treat for u and ur fiancee. Being on the equator (15 deg N), I'm not sure if the weather changes much at all. But check the climate webs.  The monsoon season starts now and lasts till Sept. So another consideration. The people are nice and English spoken everywhere, just be patient.

Those are great Photos, I love Thailand also,
Your Mom is so dumb that she tried to minimize a 12 variable function to a minimal sum of products expression using a karnaugh map instead of the Quine-McCluskey Algorithm.

Phuket was hit pretty hard by the tsunami - did you see any remaining
evidence of the disaster? Your photos are great, would like to see more...

Vaughn,

The tsunami never reached our beachfront hotel.  The water reached a level of about 4 feet at the top of our beach and no injuries as told by one of the hosts.  Patong City, another story, one shop displays graffic pictures of the disaster.  However, the entire town city is rebuilt as to show no evidence of any disaster except for new store fronts.
Thanks, Vaughn, Ill check for more :)

Wonderful time.   Recommend visiting Thailand.  Inexpensive other than the airfare.
