Hey everyone, new to the forum and new to trying to find a wife from Europe (Ukraine). I live in North Dakota (with our oil boom guys outnumber girls 10-1) and want to find a wife. Anyways, I am 28 and plan on making a trip to Ukraine in July. I look forward to getting advice/help from you all. Hopefully one day I will be able to give my own advice on here!

One of best contributors is from North Dakota.  (Only he calls it Norf Dakody.)

You will be able to go over to Ukraine and explain to everyone that you are there to replace the natural gas pipeline from Russia.  You will be very popular.  (Ironically, Yulia Tymoshenko, one of the prominent Ukrainian politicians, made her money getting the gas through Ukraine.)

There are some good introductory threads here, as well as advice from many experienced folks. 

For my money, I would use Elena's Models.  But that is just me.  There are many opinions and many alternatives.

  !  You will find members from all around the world, not just the USA, and we all have opinions on so many things!    Unfortunately it would seem that this is NOT the best time to start looking for a bride in Ukraine - they have rather a lot on their minds at the moment! 

Concentrate on building up the holiday fund in the meantime.  At least then you will have plenty tucked away for when you make the trip.

 I think a guy such as yourself will do well.  I live in a small town in northern MN and can relate to a lack of local women. Plus at your age you not need to worry about a huge aged gap.

Being only 28 years old and traveling to Ukraine in search of a wife? Unfortunately it is very unlikely to happen at least until you have made many many trips at a huge expense to yourself.

Im guessing your going to be looking for a younger women 23/25. In which case the vast majority of young Ukrainian women have better things to do in life than settling down in life and becoming married with children. Despite the troubles in Ukraine at present the vast majority of young girls/women in Ukraine are more interested in doing what young girls/women do all over the world. That is partying and having some fun in life. Unless you fancy being a "Toy boy" which actually can be quiet popular:)

I think you have a chance. It's a bit of a long shot but if you have the time and money then why not give it a shot. Go to vk.com and start shopping. There are thousands of girls there. Use their vast search engine and see what happens. Get on Skype as soon as possible. Use this place for all the free advice you need. Obviously there are members here that have it all figured out for you. If you're not more than willing and able to get on a plane about 4 or 5 times in the next  year or so then I think you might be spinning your wheels. Trust me it takes more than a couple of meetings and even then it's no science.

Sorry I also forgot one option! Find a very small village in Ukraine, one street , 12 houses with no water and where they still milk cows by hand. You will find some young women in these villages who's daily routine is milking the cows, collecting the chickens eggs and the usual things they do in the villages. Here you will be like a GOD.

But seriously your going to have to do many trips to Ukraine today to meet a young women to marry.
A better idea is to take a few weeks out in Ukraine and have some fun, then take it from there. But forget about the wife side of things.

For example, go to vk.com and go with 22-27 in Ukraine, single females. There are 322315 to choose from. Skip over the models and weed through the ones that doesn't speak English. Write to about 25 today. See who responds. If none, write to 25 tomorrow. It's a numbers game. Hopefully someone will reply and you can go from there. I'm still not so sure The FSU is where I would go. There are success stories but there are plenty train wrecks as well. Good luck.

I am confused.  You live in ND yet have the name "LaFunTime."    Which is the real you?   I ask because it is important in deciding which women to pursue.   

There are no stereotypical women in the FSU.  They vary from the party girls described in steveboy's first post above to Old World  women  with traditional values (children, home, family).   

Most FSUW will not want to move to North Dakota, yet you still can find some women who would think it ideal provided they have found in you the man of their dreams.  Perhaps Misha will comment as he lives in a remote part of Canada and has been happily married for years to a RW, now with their first child.

I suggest that you focus on FSUW from small cities who say they want and are ready for children.  many of the women there are not like steveboy's description of a farmgirl.  These small cities have teachers, medical staff, bank employees, etc. 

Russia may be a better hunting ground than Ukraine because it has some locales like North Dakota.   One problem:  the women from these remote areas typically do not speak English well.   Besides Elena's Models, you should consider some of the free sites where the response rate will be less than 10%.

We do speak English. But what's the point to move from one "north dakota" to another.  Чего шило на мыло-то менять.

How long do you plan to work in North Dakota?   

Based on his avatar, it looks like he could be working in the oil industry there and could make very good money in a few years. I know one guy who left to work in North Dakota after his construction company went out of business .


Regardless if LAFunTime is working there temporary or full time, it's best he tell the ladies early in correspondence his situation and send them photos of the area he's living in. The ladies can choose to accept the situation or not.

Sorry for the late replies. I understand the process is not one of picking a woman out of a catalog, paying money, and getting her. I know I will have to take numerous trips and spend 1000's of dollars to even have a chance. Even then it's still not a guarantee. I think the reward/risk factor plays in. I think in the end (I'm in it for the long run), the reward is greater than the risk (for me). I think about how much I love to travel (mostly just been in the United States) and the thought of finding that special lady is well worth it. I will have great stories to tell when I get back from trips whether they are good or bad. I work in the oil fields but as soon as the "boom" is done I'm getting out of here. I will always call North Dakota home, will always keep my place here, but look for the warmer weather. My nickname LaFunTime is always applied because I try to make the best out of what ever I am doing. Right now I am just educating myself, by reading all of the great information on this forum. Then I will focus on the international travel/culture aspect, then I will throw in the dating!

Good luck.  Some unsolicited advice?  Listen to everyone. Most of the guys are pretty cool  but some of these guys are very crusty. You can learn from anyone.  Be prepared for the unexpected. Be aware of Homo Sovieticus. Have fun.  Ukraine is becoming a dangerous place.  But then again so is Russia.  If I had to do it over again, I would go to Poland, the Baltics or even Latin America.

YUP, it's likely more advantageous in the long run to not be perceived a God even in the beginning. Save that for the end of the relationship which is sure to come
