A reliable news source?
« on: March 25, 2014, 02:15:19 AM »
Maybe I'm over thinking this but during the past week I was unexpectedly invited to visit a woman in Moscow whom I had been corresponding with off and on for awhile - along with an unexpected number of excellent responses to what I thought was a very poor profile advertisement. Considering the situation involving Crimea I wonder at the possibility of more than the usual anti-American sentiment anywhere within Russia and that I should perhaps wait until the end of summer? Can anyone suggest a news link for monitoring other than the usual news/entertainment sources on TV?  Or; I wonder if it would be a mistake to simply ask the women directly to monitor their local social climate in relation to a future visit? I've been before but a long time ago. Thanks.

If she is not a scammer, then she is hairy Boris.

Either way, it is a lose-lose situation for you.

Thanks Muzh but I'm reasonably certain she is for real. In January I had an acquaintance deliver a package to her and they had a good impression from her. I also spoke with her on the phone as well. It's that I thought she was losing interest. I could ask the acquaintance about the social political climate there but they have been silent recently for whatever reason. Jaded as I am, I am confident of my ability to spot scammers - which I have on numerous occasions. I'll just have to wait and see & keep up with the news.

Don't let the news dictate your love life. Do you or do you not want to meet this woman? If you want to meet her, go to Moscow. She invited you to come. I seriously doubt she'd invite you to come if your life was in danger for being American. Don't insult her by asking if you're in danger. You've hesitated already and if you don't accept or decline the offer soon, she will focus her attention on a guy that can make decisions.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Yes, you are over thinking it. If you feel confident that the lady who invited you has good intentions, get on a plane and visit. And be sure to return to this site and share your experiences.

Yes, some goods points there that had not occurred to me. Since I am somewhat flexible, I'll just let her work schedule dictate when I should come - she is still sorting this part out. And yes I'll come back and share, whether it's glorious, in flames, or just humiliating. :P
