Situation in Crimea
« on: July 05, 2014, 08:25:23 AM »
Not sure how up to date this is.
Those who live there or have first hand reports from someone who does live in Crimea may have useful comments.

Apparently a theme is:  "Crimeans lament sky-high prices and are afraid that Ukraine will laugh at them now for their voting."

A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

US not invited to Berlin Conference but French invited.  Ukraine isolated makes concessions to Putin.

It is good that the USA wasn't invited...we don't belong, and shouldn't be sticking our snouts in other nation's affairs where virtually NOBODY wants us.  Maybe Hunter Biden will get angry and sue!

According to Taras Kuzio, Timoshenko wanted to arm the Crimeans and engage in guerrilla war and Islamo-terrorism.  Poroshenko may turn off the water and gas, but that's it.  I don't think he wants to escalte things beyond his de facto borders.  Besides according to former Clinton US Amabassador Steven Pifer called the Budapest Memorandum not a real treaty, therefore Ukraine has no nukes

Which is why the promises of his minister of defense are empty. Just like the promise of visa free travel.

They are winning the war in the East.  They have the water and gas supply in the mainland.

Just like the promise of visa free travel.

The East is not war on Russia.
Simplifying visa is not visa free travel.
