I-485 questions and update
« on: May 15, 2006, 12:31:02 PM »
I urge all of you in the "processing" cases to check the status of your cases on:

http://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

They may have more information about your case now.

I did not check for about two months, but lo and behold when I checked today they wrote that the "I-485 application was received on August 29, 2005 for processing and is taking between 270 and 300 days to process."  So, that should naturally put their "processing" decision about the time we are in Russia ie. end of June / beginning of July.

So, here are a few questions for those knowledgable or venturing to take an educated guess, or both:

1.  How long after "processing" do / did you get a decision in the mail?

2.  If the BCIN requests an interview, how long after the letter do they generally schedule the interview date?  I suppose the answer to question 2 depends to an extent on where you live, but maybe it has become more uniform (Ha, Ha), but unless I ask the question nobody will answer / its good to know the dates anyway.

3.  If we miss an interview date because we / she is still in Russia (getting back on an I-131) how difficult is it to reschedule?

I have read some of the old threads but I believe only a few of you posted your experiences on the above topics.  Thanks

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On June 14, 2004, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made.

Same as it ever was....same as it ever was.... ::)

We got notice of our interview approx 1 month before its scheduled date, (that was 1 year and 5 months ago) for Lil and about 6 weeks prior for Niko in the begining of this year.

Jet, thanks for the realistic assessment ie. you never know what they are going to do and when they will even act, so when it happens I'll try to deal with it  :).

My wife's friend received her temp greencard in less than a month.
The immigration officer would not say whether the 485 was approved or not. The hardest part was the suspense.
