Are those electric kettles manufactured anywhere in the US? I wanted to buy one in Ukraine but it was not wired for US standards.

ready 220V/110V, 50/60 Hz... adapter needed for plug...

For American, who buy in Ukraine, seek bi-standart material... usually, a lot of brand from china find in Ukraine are bi-standart...

Clyde,
I don't know how you have gone without one for as long as you have! We bought ours at Fry's, a big electronic and appliance store here in CA. I think even Target carries the Braun one. Just look at any store that has a good variety of coffee makers.

Clyde you can get them cheap and easy at your local walmart.  I have 2 of them myself.  One IOve had for 2 years, and ones in a box in case that one breaks.  Costs about 14 dollars.

I got my kettle from ASDA, not part of Walmart, bobby-basic, seperate base, filter, for 5 quid, about 8 dollars.

Good price!

Here, a Tefal kettle cost 95 UAH and we use it constantly to boil tap water for use in cooking rice, spaghetti etc. We also have a Philips kettle just for boiling bottled water for tea. The Tefal has accumulated a nasty, thick film; makes me wonder about the locals who drink tap water.

Cheaper kettles do abound; most of them, regardless of brand, are made in China.

KenC,
I never thought about these kettles before visiting Ukraine and always having one in the apartment. I have the standard copper and metal ones at home.

The medical community has been saying for years that eating or drinking from aluminum or metal containers can cause Alzheimer's disease, so maybe these electric kettles are better.

I wanted to post something else but have forgotten what it was.  ???
