The Rada was changed by elected officials who changed their allegiances.  The composition of the Rada before the last election did not change.  That was not the case in Crimea.
The result is irrelvant.  The rule of law was not followed.
The Crimean parliament did not change, they fired the government and named a new one. Same situation as with the Rada.

The Rada did not fire the government.  The Rada was always a coalition government, as no one party had sufficient votes to retain power alone.  When opposition parties withdrew their support from the existing coalition, the Party of Regions no longer had the votes to continue as the governing party.

That is not what occurred in Crimea.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

A mass of Ukrainian citizens changed their own government. A mass of Russian gunmen
changed Crimea's government. See the difference?

I'm sure you are correct that it would be easy to transmit some data through that method.  The data would look innocuous, but there could be some gems there for the person receiving it who had the correct template.

BTW did you know that Geoffrey Chaucer was a spy?  Julia Childs?  Christian monks who went to China?

There are still international networks of spies, and almost every country has a number in service spying on both allies and foes.
As for me being a spy, my access levels are not nearly high enough to be interesting. Besides that, if you have access to all Google hasto offer, what more do you need ?

Russia does not have the economy to endanger the West, so it can only be a perceived threat rather than a real one, just like in the 1960s.  You do recall the reverse effect on the USSR of trying to match the West? Repeat:  Economic and political collapse.

Shadow, the US does not want a cold war.  As before, it would be a waste of money.  We want our peace dividend that was delayed by Al Qaeda, et al.

Russia alone may not inflict much damage on our economy...BUT combined with other nations it might.  The reserve currency is secure for the moment and brings us a huge basically unearned windfall, if we lose that down the line, my understand is that things change in a big way...and at that point a different nation would be getting the benefits, possibly China.

Shadow,

My brain is fine, which is more than can be said for your closed pro-Russian mind....

The woman who posted those videos on here actually works for the Russian Naval base in Crimea, and the fact she was excited and gloating about  those Russian attack Helicopters suddenly flying in,pre-illegal referendum ,recognized by surprise..surprise only Russia and some other dubious countries, even China didn't support it,would suggest it's not a normal occurrence in Crimea.

Try again with your excuses.

By the way i notice she's stopped posting on here about how great life is in Crimea now under the Russian invaders..i wonder why ?

I wonder if China will return Crimea to Ukraine when Russia becomes a vassal to China ?

Only a matter of time until Russia becomes a vassal state to China.

More important question is, will the Chinese allow that midget to stay on as the puppet president...

Talking about looking at a glass half full...

He burnt through 100 billion in foreign reserves, yet couldn't stop the Rouble from collapsing.
He couldn't go without his beauty sleep, so had to leave the G20 meeting early.
He couldn't win the economic game against the Imperialist West, so have to become junior partner to China.

Midget's list of accomplishments just goes on and on...

Belvis, there are a bunch of Republicans/Conservatives that would love to minet Putin because "He's a Man's Man." Rudy Giuliani is first in line.

The title of this thread brings to mind a famous scene with Russia being a metaphorical shoe-in for the Black Knight:

The Russian economy has already contracted by 0.5% in relative terms this last month, the whole economic system is in a state of panic with the expectation that oil prices will continue to drop. Even if the price of oil stays at $60, conservative estimates peg the shrinking of the Russian economy at 4.5%.

If that is "winning" I would cringe to see what losing would entail...

Good one Misha.  Oil is at approximately 55.  The Ruble is about 55.  Putin probably thinks that if he takes enough testosterone, he will be 55.  Oh well, delusions die hard for some.   8)

Yes, and everywhere you look, global oil glut is getting worse: http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/price+with+Latin+America+threatens+Canada+patch/10688110/story.html. A person would have to be quite the optimistic bordering on deluded to think that oil prices will be going up in a matter of months...
