For the Canadians out there
« on: May 23, 2006, 10:18:48 AM »
HI guys,

I have a question for the married Canadian folks out there.  How easy is it to get a visitor visa for a relative of your wife, to come and visit in Canada?

I would like to have my wife's, younger sister (23, single, ouch!!! :) - for the government that is  ;) come and visit us this summer.  I have heard a few horror stories, however, if anyone has any experience with this, I would be most appreciative.

She has a good career (as a nurse) and still lives at home, however, I suspect the government would view a single, 23year old girl as someone they do not want in the country, even if it is, just to visit her sister.

Thanks guys
Calcowboy

Calcowboy,

If I wasn't engaged, I'd probably sponser your sister in law based on the way you've talked in the past about how good looking and great a person your wife is. Test your luck with the visitor visa and report back!

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.  I finished up with the invitation today and now just crossing my fingers that she makes it.

Billy, too bad you are engaged, she is a sweetie and quite the beautiful woman.  Added the bonus of highly educated as a nurse as well as an economics degree, she is quite the catch!!!!.  Any single guys out there?????  ;)

Now the waiting begins  ;D

should be ok, When I was back from Kiev last march, I have heard the conversation between one woman from Kazastan (or something like this)
and a custom officer in Montreal, she knew nobody, has just 1000$ with here and was granted to enter Canada. perhaps if you do a declaration on honor that you will cover her expenses during her stay in Canada, this will help (this is the case with the Schengen visa) .

btw, do you have a photo of her ? ;)

Whooooooooooo HOoooooooooooooooo, freakn great news today!!!!!

My wife's sister recieved her travel visa!!!.  She was one of 4 people interviewing for a travel visa, and she was the only one to get it!!!.  The interview was intense, however, they liked all the supporting documents I provided (25 pages in total!!!).  She is landing here on July 14th and staying until September 14th!!

It's party time!!, my wife is going nuts with excitement!!  ;D
