In the time when Mr. Putin had seemingly disappeared, a number of what I label as conspiracy theory type of bloggers began to contact Western journalists who cover Russia. Thanks to Twitter, now even the nuts can track us down.
In those electronic "conversations" there was always an assertion of a theory, and then the request to back it up their story. Too funny, or perhaps too sad.
Whether it was regarding trucks parked near Red Square, trucks leaving Red Square, riot police (OMON) deploying across Moscow, or unidentified helicopters hovering over the Kremlin, each contact wanted something to prove their theory.
After tiring of typing back sentences which were invariably followed by, "yeah but...," I decided to send links to webcams. So, you heard of strange helicopters hovering over Lenin's tomb, here is a webcam. Good hunting.
Ah, those riot police on every major street corner? Okay, here is your webcam link. Go see for yourself.
That being said, I can't think of a single RWD poster who might have fit in that conspiracy "nutcase" category, but each of us are interested in what is happening, at the moment, at given times. So, lets compile a webcam directory.
Please contribute any that you know of. From Moscow to Kyiv, from Minsk to Irkutsk, from Lviv to Vitebsk, and from Tashkent to Astana, please add any working webcams that you have found.
Thank you!
