Some photos from a recent show in Australia. Do you have a favorite athlete?

Keeping with the Russian format of the forum you can't mention model athletes
without mentioning

My first reaction is, why can't we have both?  :D

I'll need some photos of said stick figures to compare before I make my final decision.  ;)

You suggested both, so you gotta come up with the runway girls.

I suggested the athletes which are healthy and much better inspiration for our young
girls.

Of the girls whose pics Bill posted Allison Stoke, the pole vaulter, is my favorite, followed by Darya Klishina, the Russian long jump champion.

I will add:

Anastasia Vasina, of the Russian Olympic Beach Volleyball team

The supertall, lithe, beautiful tennis champion Maria Sharapova

From the modeling world it's hard to do better than the astonishingly beautiful Irina Shayk, from the Chelyabinsk region.

I missed that the thin models were banned.  That's real retarded but then France is going to France.  ::)

Personally, I like a bit of meat on the bones.  Every one of the girls above look great to me but I also have no issues with skinnier types too.  If young girls think they have to weigh 80lbs to be beautiful, they have issues that go beyond "Oh, well the media says I'm worthless unless I'm ultra skinny".  Ban skinny girls!  It's for the children!

Same with the push here in the USA to make fatties feel better about themselves.  The recent "I'm no angel" campaign comes to mind.  I'm surprised my eyes haven't fallen out of my head yet from rolling them so hard every time that commercial comes on.

Here's an idea, try feeling good in the skin you're in.  Who gives a fat (or skinny) fuck what anyone else thinks.  Then again, I'm not an impressionable 13 year old girl I guess.  :)

The reason for the ban was because models were being forced by fashion houses to adopt unnatual standards of thinness.  It is not uncommon in the fashion world for models, most of whom are teens, to be told not to eat for days before a show, or to throw up their meals, or to smoke/take drugs to suppress their appetites.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Ok, well that's different.  I don't think any (sane) person would condone behavior like that.  Still, banning skinny models is a bit extreme.  At what weight or look is the line drawn?

The ban is based on BMI.  France is not the only country doing this, and the fines will be imposed on fashion houses/agents.  Given one can generally visually determine if a model is too thin, I don't think that will ever be an issue.

I disagree.  "Too thin" is subjective.  I'm not talking about Auschwitz thin either.

Ads for fat girls lingerie line

You're missing the whole point of that ad.

Some of you might not have seen these ads.  Here is one:

It's an ad for a lingerie line at the Lane Bryant stores.  Lane Bryant is a store for fat women.

Here's a blurb about the ad campaign:

Quote
Lane Bryant Bashes Victoria's Secret With 'I'm No Angel' Campaign

The video features gorgeous plus-size models sporting bras and panties from the new Cacique by Lane Bryant collection. The 30-second spot is done in black-and-white and without any music (it feels the tiniest bit empty without it), with a few sound bites from the models, who all declare that they're no angels.

"The Lane Bryant #IMNOANGEL initiative celebrates women of all shapes and sizes by redefining society's traditional notion of sexy with a powerful core message: ALL women are sexy," the brand says.
It's a direct dig at Victoria's Secret, and social media is loving it. Women have jumped on the trending hashtag, posting their own photos and declarations with #ImNoAngel.

BMI on the low end is not particularly subjective.  Unlike the higher end of BMI's, which often are not accurate due to muscle mass, you are not dealing with muscles.

I don't need to see a person with a BMI of 45 to know that person is obese.

I see. Something similar to one guy looking sloshed with a BAC of 0.08 and another guy with a BAC of 0.16 and looks extremely sober to you.

No.

A better comparison would be asking, can you visually tell the difference between a sloshed guy with a BAC of 0.08 and another with a BAC of 0.16?  The answer is, probably not.

Although Lane Bryant carries plus size clothing, its lines start at size 14.  Here is a size 14 -

Here is a size 16 model -

Most women don't have figures that are that proportionately distributed, so would have to carry less weight to look that good.
