Russia's Food Import Ban Is Here to Stay
« on: May 01, 2015, 03:59:02 PM »
If this holds true come the deadline, the EU idiots will continue to send the bill to it's People for being so stupid as to follow orders from Washington. The madmen in Washington has nothing to lose from the sanctions. Russia lose in the short range but wins in the long run. The only permanent losers are the impotent EU With it's numerous lap dogs in Office Whos not there to serve their People but rather to serve their own careers on the expense of their guillible population, With Merkel as their no. 1 Washington harlot.

Again Russia wins. Putin is THE chessplayer while western politicians yet again prove themselves to be pathetic players in a game they don't understand.

If Russia wants to support their own agriculture industry and turn much of their fallow land into land being used to feed their own people, that's a good thing.

All the rest of the blah blah blah about the EU and the alleged puppet-masters in WA DC is just a bunch of nonsense.

Thank you for that splendid political analysis. I Guess it's my error to not view this in light of a phsyciatric patient doctrine. I will take a few SSRI pills and no doubt see the light in the morning. Thank you very much for the Insight Mr. Patient.

Other than the fact that Russia has historically been incapable of feeding its people, it sounds like a plan.

Sheeple is a term I've heard applied to Westerners in these circles but the woolliest of all sheeple I've seen on my travels are the Russians themselves, not least of all, some I am related to.....

This does have to be hurting Euro Farmers a lot more than Russian consumers.

Just what I was thinking, I/O.

EU agricultural exports to Russian were only 8 billion euros, and most of those were things Russians don't/won't/can't produce.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Really? The average Russian now have to spend more than half of their monthly wage on food.
What will your lifestyle be like if half your monthly pay cheque is spent on food?

Here in America for many half or more of the money goes towards a house payment.

Just curious- what "food" can't Russia produce?

Can it be produced in the quantity, quality, and at a price that is easily affordable by the average Russian?  That is the question.

It's never really been a question of variety (although climate does limit that to an extent) but reliable quantity.

That said, all the good farming ground they will free up once they finish removing all that pesky urban infrastructure from it in Eastern Ua should provide a broader growing base.......

Cool. Sounds good to me.

Ok, so then why cry about it? Or are you gloating. I'm confused. :)

Now I am confused...

Gloating about the expected 3-4% economic contraction this year, or the rapidly dwindling foreign reserve, or the upcoming May 9 fancy dress parade that even Little Kim from North Korea won't attend?

I'll help you with your confusion- read the title of the thread. What does food production have to do with Parade on May 9th?
Nothing.

About edible food. The one who is laughing never tried food in Russia- it is TIMES tastier and healthier than in the USA.
I  go here regularly and often shop for grocery.  About 70% of food in supermarkets there was of local origin. My son says it is now about 85-90%.
Yes, farmers are happy about sanctions.

BULLSH*T! The quality of fresh fruit here is garbage, especially citrus and bell peppers. Dry, wrinkled, totally tasteless and qualifies as nothing more than pig slop. With the exception of cucumbers and cabbage, I spend my money on canned imported fruits and vegetables.

Dear, I am from Krasnodar so hate local produce even after 13 years here.
Don't care for citrus, but there is nothing better than Kuban tomatoes and peppers.
Thanks for reminding- I am planting my garden and forgot about peppers! :D
This is what they grow plus many others

Feel free to send some to Rostov, they don't have any decent peppers here.
