4 posts total from HDL.  3 posts from you... and you decide to start throwing stones from the porch of your glass house, apparently.

Let the mods handle it.

Anyone who complains about another member's post and then goes on to say tough shi*t if you don't like his posts is throwing stones from the porch of their glass house.

Not everyone here is rude or nasty. In fact
most are pretty good. I'm saying that a few
people take advantage of the faceless nature
of the internet.

The other thing is that you are exposed, willingly or unwillingly, to all sorts of types of people you would never associate with IRL.

All my life -to me  -  the acronym 'IRL' was Ireland.. now I've come across a new acronym... ... is it 'internet related libel' ? ...

There have been lots of cruel posts here through the years, some even made by calmissile.  He once suggested I probably don't look good because of my age.  He once told a RW from Crimea that she had a poor breast job, and that she was ugly and would never find a man.  The post to me is somewhere here.  The other ones were reported and deleted.

Those posts were not in response to TR's, but rather, to something posted that was disagreed with politically.  They were made specifically to "shut up" uppity women.

Realistically, because of the relative anonymity of forums, that type of stuff will always occur.

I remember them too, and I imagine that calmissile cringes when he thinks back to his posting behaviour in the early days of his membership.  To be fair, he has moved on a long way from then, and there is now only the odd post from him which raises my eyebrows.  Now that he has settled into connubial bliss he seems to have settled in other ways, too.

His technical background also makes for some very interesting reading when we get into certain areas of discussion.

Again...

Was never my intent to derail a thread. I commented that I would not be posting a TR because of the ONE incident with Calmissile's TR (that was later split into another area). Then FP and Bo came out with the knives. I apologize for defending myself. I should have been the bigger man and just let it go. Or better yet, I should not have posted anything at all.  :cluebat:

Jon, sorry for derailing your topic. Maybe the mods can split this off. I am pretty much done with this forum now. Congratulations FP and Bo. You win!  :clapping:

I didn't come out with the knives.  You posted.  I responded by merely noting the post directed at cal was not made in a trip report, and that negative, or highly personal comments have not been made in trip reports in some time.  I can't even remember the last one, it is so long ago.  The reason I riposted was to correct this common misconception about trip reports, which is perpetuated by such inaccurate posts, together with chat hearsay.

They weren't in the early days of his membership, and I doubt he cringes at them.  I can name other incidents, including on pitbull (a favourite target) and in particular, a vicious attack on one of the RW who moved back to Russia, and no longer posts here.

I wasn't referring to his worth as a poster.  My view is every poster is worthy in some way.

So anyone who disagrees with you "comes out with knives"? I apologize for hurting your tender feelings  :wallbash:

You made the statement HDL, own it, defend it or back away. There were no knives. Just someone pointing out the absurdity of your statement. Are you looking for a forum where everyone agrees with you?

Oh, you mean like you are trashing this thread? Newsflash, it's not about trip reports.

Yeah there are asshats on most every forum. The internet can assemble many different opinions and that is all they are, opinions. If your skin is too thin or you're too afraid your choices can't stand up to open honest debate and scrutiny then, don't post a TR. That's you prerogative but please, stop attempting to project your insecurities on others who might want to post a TR. Trip reports have a value to the poster as well as the reader. Anyone can read the trip report section and decide for themselves.

Your the one who has gone off on a tangent-- perhaps you can tell us all what you think the thread is about?

I read jone  OP as  a call to those active-ie making visits to the fsu to chime into thread.( I have not spoken to jone to check that-but it is how I read it)

So in fact-Lee's comments were on topic.

The way I read it is that HDLee made a generalised comment-it does not warrant a torrent of negativity.

HDLee's comments went to the point of the op- ie ""tell your story".

From that point on-- the ongoing chasing of his posts is a diversion-- and in my view-- FP and you ought to know better.
There is always a lot of potential diversions to a thread direction-- and in this case it was an attempt by jone to get a feel good thread rolling.

I am not going to allow inaccurate posts to stand unchallenged.  I don't really care whether or not you find that objectionable.

The reality is, the post directed at calmissile, while rude and bad form, was not the most egregious insult ever posted here, and ironically, one of the worst offenders (which, BTW, includes you) is, in fact, calmissile.

As with real life conversations, posts meander.   You have made the point you don't like that, but continue the meandering.  Sort of ironic, in my view.

From my point of view, I am not going to stop posting when someone makes an inaccurate post merely to mollify the thread nannies here.

Yes, it was a "feel good" thread.  But HDL's post, not those subsequent, is what killed the chill.

WOW . . . what happened to our summer reports?

Ochka and I spent yesterday putting up a second layer of fence around garden.  This layer is on the lower portion and has tighter weave to try to keep out chipmunks, etc.  We finished 3 sides of garden fence and have the last side to go.  But have to get some more wire.

Today, we are going to do weed whacking . . . and try to get a lot done before thunderstorms hit this afternoon.

Ochka has been bugging me that she wants to do the weed whacking also, so I bought a lighter weight machine for her.  She tried it out yesterday for first time, and worked it just fine.  Hard to believe how much work she wants to do.

Guys . . . if you want a gal who is eager to share in life's hard work . . . go Ukrainian.

And if you want a gal who can do that . . . and still be highly sophisticated when the occasion calls . . . find a gal who grew up in the country side, and then spent her adult years in the big city.  At least that's what is working for me.

ML,

You have now faced the penultimate hobby for an Eastern European woman.  Once the house is clean, the man is decided, thoughts turn to the plot of land and what it can grow.

This forum isn't a platform for you and your idiocy. It is for a sharing of idea's on and about FSUW and the men who seek them. The priority has always been to have helpful information for those who seek it. When I spot a post or poster side tracking or polluting that information, I will call them on it. Get use to it or get bent, makes me no difference

You have a problem being wrong--like you just showed above ( & again)

You just proved my point-- you made your comment - and then-instead of leaving it at that you attack others for a thread hijack--that it is you in fact responsible for.

Your biggest problem is never knowing when to shut up- as I said above in thread.

Did you actually have a contribution to the thread topic? Or are you just here to troll?

Time you grew up and realised you are no seer of great knowledge or wisdom.

I had the same situation. My gas powered weed whacker was just too heavy for the wife so I got her a battery powered one, much lighter for her. She spends most of the day tending her garden and it looks good.
