bringing russian girl to australia - tourist visa?
« on: August 20, 2015, 11:17:10 AM »
hey guys, i was in russia in 2012 and briefly met a young lady there . We stayed in contact after i left and have recently spent a lot of time getting to know each other more via skype etc. I would love for her to visit me here in Perth. I asked her if she would like to come here, i would buy a ticket for her. She agreed :) But unfortunately the visa process seems harder than i realised.
What are the chances of her getting a tourist visa? Is it possible? Depending on what you read, who you speak to etc, it's either mission impossible or not really that hard.
Obviously i would write her an invitation letter and pay for all costs. She has been accepted into china and USA previously without any issues..
the problem is she is currently unemployed so can not provide a letter from employer etc. Now i hope its ok to say this, but we have thought about the idea of just , how can i say, 'inventing' a document from an employer to keep the embassy happy. thoughts?

Any info would be much appreciated as this is my first time doing anything like this and whilst i am sure her visit to australia is completely genuine, convincing the embassy is another challenge.

I do hope you're kidding!  Please don't even joke about this - if you go ahead, and she gets found out, she will never be allowed into Australia (and, with today's fondness for information-sharing, she will probably be barred from other countries as well).

Why is she unemployed?  If she was made redundant, her previous employer might be able to provide some sort of reference, as it won't cost him/her anything.

Any info would be much appreciated as this is my first time doing anything like this and whilst i am sure her visit to australia is completely genuine, convincing the embassy is another challenge.

Good luck!

With the thought of terrorists moving through countries, background checks may be more thorough. If she's a keeper, don't take any short cuts or risks that may make it harder for you two to be together.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Tourist visa is straightforward - BS and you'll get your butt handed to you.

could you elaborate i/o? do you think she can get it without a letter from employer or providing a sufficient reason why she will return?

What do you think will happen if they call this fictitious employer?

Ryan - that's always an issue and I'm hearing the embassy is being a bit ham fisted at the moment. What about apartment rental documents or family connections? Also, I signed off a guarantee the visitor would comply with all visa requirements (including exiting the country on time) and had a lawyer witness it way back when and that seemed to carry some sway.

We've never had a problem in near 10 years of this crap, girlfriend/fiancé - wife, friends, family and others but I've heard of others having problems including friends of ours just last week and she has been here several times already but as soon as she wanted to bring her kids for a visit, the embassy declined a visa without explanation.

My advice is to gather every single piece of possible legitimate supporting documentation you can and lodge the application. Shortcuts are a shortcut to the sch!t house, that much is certain.

ok thanks for the advice.
i guess the plan would of been for the ficticious employer to be in on it :)

I/O thanks again, she lives with her mother so the flat isnt in her name. Her previous employer doesnt want to help her out. Im still not sure if we should try or if we're wasting our time.

That's great news!

I was reading the posts up until the end and was cringing about this fake employer thing every time it popped up haha  :D

What did she use as her supporting docs?

Anyone ever bring a RW into Australia in either of the 2 following scenarios?

Met her in person but not in her country (e.g. met 3rd country) and have previously been to her country but didn't meet her there on that trip

Have not met in person (e.g. writing/internet only) and have previously been to her country but didn't meet her there on that trip

Curious what the threshold is...

Zooble-
option one for me
Met my wife in Thailand the first time >She then came to Perth ( tourist visa ) > then returned with daughter twice( visitors visa) then spouse visa.  No Problems .
I didn't go to Russia until after we were married ... :o

For the U.S. the best recommendation for tourist visa can be previous trips out of country and returning home on time. My Russian stepdaughter has been here twice without some of the things they supposedly ask for. Just previous trips around Europe. And when asking for second visa to U.S. she asked for 1 year and they gave her 3.
