Need scam protection? ask me a question
« on: December 16, 2015, 07:27:46 PM »
Hello,

my name is Dimitri

5 years ago I launched a big antiscam project www.antiarnaques.org/en that offers free assistance in dating scam protection, all recent scammers profiles are there.
Several documentaries were made in France, Belgium and Switzerland about my project.
(last one )

12 years ago I started an honest dating agency in Ukraine, I will not give the name as I don't want you to think that I'm here for advertising it.

So my 12 years in dating and dating scam world allow me to say that I know everything about dating.

I live in Canada so I will be happy to help any person in Nothern America and also in Europe.

Feel free to ask any kind of questions: dating, travel, visa, passport and especially dating scams.
Let's hope, let's love

Sandro, how does his list of scammers compare to yours?

I have not checked Arti99's, but I expect it's different - i.e. 'normal' scammers - while mine covers the special category  of "Double Dealers" ;).

Not to belittle your laudable effort, but are you aware that there are already several websites that have been maintaining lists of scammers for years, and welcome new contributions?

To name just one example, Stop Scammers (http://www.stop-scammers.com/), with a list of 9,370 scammers.

Hello Dimitri, thanks for an interesting project!

Do you also offer services to check out on the male scammers who could be from the US or from the rest of the world? Lavalife was recently flooded by the male scammers, just like bugs near a lakeshore in summer, I am glad that I left that website  :-X.

Perhaps you could make it one for all female readers because if I were Anti-Scammer site owner, I wouldn't know where to look as I don't have experience in it unless I turn into gay  :P 8)

Lily, as used on this discussion site, scammer is defined as one who seeks to obtain money from someone through false pretenses.

Are you saying that you have encountered several western men who have sought to obtain money from you and other (current or originally) FSUW?

If it is not money they are after from you, then please define and use some term other than scammer so as to not cloud and obfuscate the discussion.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

They have several scams targeting of FSUW for sure. Something like this is one version.

I am an American GI and finally leaving the service in Iraq or someplace like that.
Blah, blah, blah. I can spend several months in your city getting to know you. Blah,
blah, blah. Rather than go back to the USA I will come meet you in ____________
your city here.

Enclosed 5 handsome photos of well dressed and groomed strapping young man at the
perfect age who hasn't seen a woman in 6 months.

More romantic letters follow, more photos, etc and now 7 months since he's seen a
woman.............

Money letter, somebody pick pocketed me/the ATM ate my card at the airport and I'm
stuck in XYZ can you send me $$$ I will repay you when I arrive.

ML,

I live in Canada, and don't give out my ethnic origin that is Russian  ;) therefore, my location on the dating site shows Toronto, Canada. How are they supposed to know that I am a FSUW?  ;D

Actually I am not sure whether those 'men' are Western or not. They may be located anywhere in the world. Also, with them, I never reached the stage where they would be asking me for money. To my knowledge (from this forum mostly  ;) ), a scammer's intention would be to get the person fall for him or her through the correspondence, and then ask for money under any rationale, like 'help me to get home from this business trip', etc etc.

So based on your own words, you actually have not been subjected to any scamming (as the word is used on this forum) attempts by men.

Despite this lack of personal interaction, you wrote:

"Lavalife was recently flooded by the male scammers, just like bugs near a lakeshore in summer, I am glad that I left that website."

= = = = =

Scamming of men by women is a serious and widespread situation.

It is a dis-service to attempt to dilute this situation by inferring that the reverse is often true.

Perhaps men do bad things with respect to women.
But scamming for money is a minuscule (or even smaller) part of it.

I've been sent letters from many a Nigerian Prince telling me they needed me to
cash a check for a million dollars and I would get to keep some of it. I blocked and
deleted their email and by your definition haven't been scammed. However, the
attempt was made.

I've been sent letters from sites like Lucky Lovers back when I was there. Gambia
was the most common country. They were obviously working a scam. I reported
them to the agency, they were gone the next day. For a while I was getting a couple
each day. I wasn't scammed but the attempt was made.

All of us have probably gotten a letter or two that we just cut off, because it was
obviously some kind of scam.

Sure Bill, we have all gotten such Nigerian (etc.) contacts which go to both males and females.

Has nothing much to do with the very high proportion of romantic scams for money run by females against males, compared to the minuscule proportion of romantic scams for money run by males against females.

"It's the testosterone stupid!"

It's a great travesty against decency for females to even hint that they are subject to romantic monetary scammers in anything close to the same degree that males are.

Just today on TV, while  flipping through the channels to see what was on to watch while we had a late lunch . . . we noted on "Dr Phil" a male on female monetary scam.

I had told Ochka briefly about 'scams' a few times before, but she still really didn't understand the process . . . and she wanted us to watch the segment, which was already underway.

Canadian woman (white) had actually married one the Nigerian (or some such) guys.

Her early 20s son and her brother had been very much against from the beginning and now they were still trying to convince her that he was only after her money.

She was a porker, but apparently very successful in running her own business and had dropped around $250,000 on this guy (direct money, jewelry, trips, payment for fake document, fake medical bills, etc.)

In one of the medical files he had sent her, the 'Physician' had written something like:  'man is in 100% OK condition, but with my continued treatment he will reach 100% good.'

She had been trying for 5 or so years to get him into Canada, but the government always said nyet.

It was pretty sad and the woman was still mostly in denial.

Finally, Dr Phil showed her Facebook conversations between her husband and his friends where he referred to her as his "ATM."

In the end, she agreed to accept Dr Phil's help, as he had already contacted the Nigerian Ambassador to USA who would thoroughly investigate the guy.

Ochka was in almost total disbelief that the woman fell for the guy's story and continued stories.

- - - -

But again, this is 1 case compared to 999 (or more) of female monetary scams on males.

"It's the testosterone stupid!"

It's a great travesty against decency for females to even hint that they are subject to romantic monetary scammers in anything close to the same degree that males are.

I've obviously gotten my share of romantic scams. I've only had one girl try
to get me to buy her something  (who had pretty big balls if you ask me) to
buy her an $800 coat. I said you haven't even kissed me! We had played several
games of Russian billiards (not for money) and she beat me like in 5 out of 5
games and I had a pool table at home at the time. I'm don't know what about me
gave off the vibe that I would.

Probably the number one is testosterone followed by (in no particular order)
HARD HEADEDNESS, Gullibility, lack of interpersonal skills, lack of experience,
patheticness (is that a word?), desperation, lack of skepticism and last but not
least the big spender, pedestal putting, save the damsel in distress type ..........
wait that is testosterone too.

For somebody like ML, who has confidence in himself, decent interpersonal skills,
a healthy amount of skepticism it would be pretty hard to pull something over on
him, regardless of his penchant for Monster trucks and other testosterone related
things.

In the entire 9 years of searching ONE girl (the first girl) got me to give her $200
with less than pure motives and I didn't really care when I gave it to her*.
