It is country-wide actually, all across the USA.

Then I obviously need to amend the original ... so I have.  :crackwhip:

Despite some members on this forum trying to deny the degree of difficulty the Russian economy is in-the reports keep coming. I cannot find the link referring to the Kremlin removing depositers -but this article refers to the banks being unable to pay.

On the eve of the collapse of the banking system of Russia set off a pervasive fraud

"The fall in oil prices and the recession in the Russian economy have led to a flowering of sophisticated schemes conceal problems in the banking sector, leading eventually to the conclusion of assets and escape the bankers. This is stated in an article published by Reuters publication."

I found the following VOX article interesting.  It demonstrates, again, the need for the Siloviki to stay in power and the structure that holds up Putin.

There's also a tongue in cheek photo essay right behind it.

The bank just wants to wash their hands of the matter, and in a way I cannot blame them--they are acting on government dictates and really have no choice in the matter.

Today she is back at the government offices after we engaged the services of an attorney. Hopefully they will make some progress.

Court will not help you.
We went through this with two banks last year and won our judgement against both.

The banks just ignored the judgement.

She left, still very frustrated. I have advised her that for the next meeting she should offer to bring along her journalist husband, an American, as he might be interested on doing a report on how tax screw-ups are apparently becoming more common in Russia. She isn't sure that such a move wouldn't create more problems...

I have to agree with your wife on this one. Your presence is likely to exacerbate matters not defuse them. There will be some government officials who would enjoy taking money from a Russian-American family.

Don't forget Russia is about to go into the May holidays and I can say with absolute certainty that is going to slow down the speed of things even well before the actual date of the holidays arrives.

No one wants to do any real work before the holidays..

And, doesn't it take time to recuperate AFTER the holidays?
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.
