While I agree with your comment in general terms, it is disgusting that your President made this order banning people WHO HAD ALREADY BEEN VETTED BY YOUR IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT AND HAD BEEN GRANTED VISAS TO TRAVEL TO YOUR COUNTRY.  Now he tries to weasel out of it by saying that he meant for it to happen with a month's notice!  Those caught up in this mess even included some of your own citizens, who just happened to have dual nationalities and were outside the USA when this ban took effect.  For crying out loud, some were even born in the USA - they just happen to have a parent from another country, and have taken advantage of that by getting an extra passport.  Others were vetted when they applied for citizenship of your country, and were deemed worthy of being allowed to become USians!  What has changed?

What next?  Is Homeland Security going to visit every single person in the USA whose circumstances are EXACTLY the same, but who wasn't travelling at the time, and tell them to leave?

1. The executive order was TEMPORARY. 90-120 days. No one is being deprived of any previously issued visas to enter the US. They are 'on-hold' until proper vetting (re-vetting) is secured.

2. Countries listed on the ban are countries without any functional government, with the exception of Iran - which was previously classified as sponsor of terrorists; that can be properly vetted. Iraq was last banned in January 2016. Even US citizens coming back from that country during that period was held-up and 'vetted'.

3. Even US citizens have been known to have joined ISIS and are part of the terrorist group. They too, should be vetted if they are coming from those listed regions. That's part of 'due process'. Those who are NOT citizens or legal residents - foreigners - are NOT entitled to be included in the 'due process'.

4. The majority of Americans support the ban. So the majority of Americans couldn't give a rat's arse what Kiwis, or anyone else, think.

I JayH  am not a citizen of the US and I live as far away from the US as possible, so I do not know Jack Shit  about  the American economy and other American issues that compelled Americans in a long, democratic process to decide Trump is the best candidate to lead America.   What Americans do not realize is that I have a supernatural ability to perceive events in the future, and based on Trump's mere three weeks in office, I am convinced Trump will dismantle the world order within his four-year tenure  and create a totalitarian world government.  Hence - the title of my thread.

US investigators corroborate some aspects of the Russia dossier
Washington (CNN)For the first time, US investigators say they have corroborated some of the communications detailed in a 35-page dossier compiled by a former British intelligence agent, multiple current and former US law enforcement and intelligence officials tell CNN. As CNN first reported, then-President-elect Donald Trump and President Barack Obama were briefed on the existence of the dossier prior to Trump's inauguration.

None of the newly learned information relates to the salacious allegations in the dossier. Rather it relates to conversations between foreign nationals. The dossier details about a dozen conversations between senior Russian officials and other Russian individuals. Sources would not confirm which specific conversations were intercepted or the content of those discussions due to the classified nature of US intelligence collection programs.
But the intercepts do confirm that some of the conversations described in the dossier took place between the same individuals on the same days and from the same locations as detailed in the dossier, according to the officials. CNN has not confirmed whether any content relates to then-candidate Trump.

They were not rejected--they were not accepted.
The long answer is the AUS quotas were full.It is not a new type deal-there is a long history of wider distribution of genuine refugees.
There is many other aspects to international relationships that can get complicated  --if I was being glib-- too hard for you and DJT to understand !!

They are well cared for on that island. Note --it is NOT Australian territory. The UN supervises and Australia pays for it.
A  large number of Iraqis have been settled successfully in Australia and from my own experience they adapt very well.

As to the nationalities still there-- I think a mix of countries. The US will do( & has been doing) their own vetting as to the genuine refugee status.

Yes, I read your title.  You started this thread in September when Obama was President.  I immediately posted  that it was old news, and I stated a weak Obama is emboldening Putin.   You surely recall this Russian political cartoon when Putin was outmaneuvering Obama on every front?

 



You remained silent.  Then months later after Trump becomes President, you became frightened by Trump's strong style, claiming it is  helping Putin.  You suggested Americans would not support Trump, and I posted how the military supports Trump far more than they supported Obama.   
 

QUESTION:  Do you really believe Putin will feel more emboldened with Trump in office than he was when Obama was President?     
 

Instead of getting your Trump knickers in a knot you need to open your eyes and do some actual thinking.Blind faith in any politics is dangerous -- but even more so when it is such a flawed individual as Trump under discussion.

Flawed?  Just because Trump is different does not mean he is flawed.  While a polished politician may have made you and many other weenies more comfortable, American voters decided they did not want a polished politician.  We chose a guy with a New York attitude to drain the swamp.. 

Have you read GQ's accounts of what Trump has already accomplished in his first three weeks?  What do you think about his accomplishments, or maybe you are so frightened by Trump that you can not view him on a balanced scale.  Now imagine what Trump will  have accomplished two years from now with more experience,  a full Cabinet,  and having worn down the obstructionist Democrats. 

In my opinion Trump will neither help nor stand up to Russia unless Putin goes too far such as controlling the Artic  or in destabilizing the Middle East.  That is because China and Asia will be far more important to Trump than Putin and Russia, and Trump would not want to be distracted by Russia.  I could be wrong because I am projecting like you do.

US investigators corroborate some aspects of the Russia dossier
Washington (CNN)For the first time, US investigators say they have corroborated some of the communications detailed in a 35-page dossier compiled by a former British intelligence agent, multiple current and former US law enforcement and intelligence officials tell CNN. As CNN first reported, then-President-elect Donald Trump and President Barack Obama were briefed on the existence of the dossier prior to Trump's inauguration.

None of the newly learned information relates to the salacious allegations in the dossier. Rather it relates to conversations between foreign nationals. The dossier details about a dozen conversations between senior Russian officials and other Russian individuals. Sources would not confirm which specific conversations were intercepted or the content of those discussions due to the classified nature of US intelligence collection programs.
But the intercepts do confirm that some of the conversations described in the dossier took place between the same individuals on the same days and from the same locations as detailed in the dossier, according to the officials. CNN has not confirmed whether any content relates to then-candidate Trump.

Now you make a serious reply  !!


1/ More concerned at Trump's erratic behaviour and his apparent naivety in dealing with international issues he has shown he has little understanding of. Strong style-- being a loudmouth bully does not make you strong. As President it is possible for Trump to show some strength -- by making solid thought through decisions and listening to the professionals he has access to. Of concern is that he has said he does not need the daily intelligence briefing.
As to helping Putin--either inadvertently or by design -- at the moment it appears to be the case . Look at the thread title-- and Putin's known intent.
Trump could stop that dead in it's tracks -- and do the world( including the US) a major favour and  stop ongoing problems for many years


2/ Your comment on the military-- it is said that about 60% of the military voted for Trump  -- but  -- at no time did they not support Obama  ie doing their jobs. If Hillary had been elected--they would have "supported" the President- as they will now.


3/  Right now--Putin has already shown that he will test Trump. eg events in eastern Ukraine from the day they spoke.Until Trump sits Putin back on his heels-- all of the rumours,all of the innuendo ,the speculation-- will be never ending.
Trump could kill it all dead in a few words-- and really spell it out with action  eg  Say something like this " As President I will see Ukraine retain sovereignty over all ( ALL) it's territory  and we will assist Ukraine with defensive weapons  so that Ukraine can defend itself."
From that point on--it is unambiguous the notice Russia is on .In effect-Trump will have control of Putin and his actions  and in all discussion with Putin-- it will be Putin that needs Trump-- not the other way around.
Now-that would be "strong" leadership.

4/  I agree in principle--  but-- sitting there with your wheels spinning until you blow the tyre is useless. It makes a lot of noise -- and achieves nothing. Politics is the art of compromise -- and that means dealing with the existing system and winning people to the reasonableness of your cause.

5/  Dismantling is easy enough-- but what he has shown is little respect for the laws of the country.Let us wait and see what real positive initiatives he can put on the table before we get too carried away.

6/he has the opportunity to put Putin in a box( literally !!) right now . if he does that--he will make it much easier in the future to deal with China.

Following on my comments above -- please read a few others views on similar areas. My view is not unique-- there is a lot of people who see it like this. There is a way for Trump ( & America) to have their cake and eat it too !For whatever reason/s -- Trump has appeared to be falling over himself over Putin -- and going soft--or taking too little( far too little)  does not auger well .
