It's true, GQ.  I was in one of those "no go" zones.  Perfectly safe.

Here is a map of Paris crime.  The 1st, 3rd, and 6th arrondissements, which are teeming with tourists and definitely are not "no go" zones, have the highest number of rapes in Paris.  The highest number of murders are also in the central zones, which are not designated as "no go".

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Not according to friends of mine who got just back from London not too long ago. Sorry. Ghettos, like we have here at home, are altogether a different beast than 'no-go's.

Look at the citation I provided up thread. These are citizens/Police/Politicians telling you these 'No-Go' zones are not just unsafe, they're fast becoming a threat to the entire society.

Brits/Euros' suppression of this seemingly growing reality matters none to me, IMO. It's their world and reality.

Paris, Nice, Berlin, Brussels. I'm sure those aren't real either. Nor are they symbolic of the obvious troublesome reality in their world today.

We had a poster here from London this year, who said that it is not true that there are no go zones in London.

We're not back to this nonsense are we ?

theguardian.com/media/2015/jan/12/fox-news-expert-ridiculed-over-birmingham-is-totally-muslim-city-claims

This REALLY had me laughing

"parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn’t dress according to religious Muslim attire.''

Please watch the video in the link - the News Anchor lady's face looks SO shocked ..

V has a friend who lived in Tower Hamlets - a v.high % age of 'Muslims' live there and V would go to stay with her - before and after we split ...   I can HONESTLY say I never worried about her walking back to Aldgate East to take the tube on a Sunday evening  ...

That friend subsequently moved to the 'no-go' city of Birmingham :))

At least Emerson apologised for posting such bollox

I am now 'shocked' V wasn't constantly severely beaten by the Sharia law 'Police' for wearing High heeled boots and short skirts  / skin tight jeans and not covering her face / hair ..

Your 'reality' and Emmerson's is it the twilight zone ? :)

Each of the men who attacked him received a 15 year sentence.

The UK has been pretty severe on anyone attempting to enforce how others behave or dress.

Ah yes, all those peaceful migrants.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/650919/Sweden-migrant-sex-attacks-Ostersund-women-go-out-night-refugee-centre

WOMEN have been warned not to go out at night unless they are in large groups as Swedish police struggle to cope with a wave of migrant sex attacks in a once peaceful town.

Was in a no go zone in Lodonstan.

http://usherald.com/a-florida-college-student-is-brutally-attacked-by-five-muslims-on-patrol-enforcing-sharia-law/

Here's the UK version:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/jailed-gang-who-left-us-student-too-scared-to-leave-the-house-after-savage-bottle-attack-in-east-10019162.html

NO mention of Sharia patrol and the bastards who did it were locked up - no 'Sharia Law' - just UK justice ...

A UK citizen was killed in the Fort Lauderdale Airport attack - I don't consider this airport to be a 'no-go' area because of a wack-job

Same for Brussels Airport - I used in on Jan 12th and Istanbul Airport - last used Dec 26th - they were both the subject of terrorist attacks

When Belfast was enduring the troubles  - lots of savvy US and British fisherman came over and had great holidays ...

Most of what we see / read on TV is exaggerated bollox

OMG.. It's Anteros / Cornfed ...  spouting more of his 'alternative facts'..

When you posted THIS elsewhere you were rightly mocked by a member who actually knows Sweden and Denmark - better than you and the Express - who have followed the UK Daily Mail into an alternative reality

Ah, yes, you haven't BEEN to Sweden in a while ... have you ?

I like it when one of the interviewed Muslim said, "It won't be too long now until we raised the flag of the caliphate on top of number 10!". Then when asked what will the queen do then. He just said,"Who knows. She'll just have to leave the country."

The local news here interviewed the kid on television here. They approached him because he was carrying an open container in a Muslim part of town. And jumped him because of it.

It was Sharia law nonsense.

You misunderstood me

For sure they may have tried on some bollox about 'Sharia Law' - but as you conceded the ACTUAL law of one of my countries made it pretty clear what they thought of their 'justice'

There are NO 'no-go' areas in the UK ..  Those went out with the end of the troubles in N.Ireland.

I don't recall speaking about any laws, only that there is an existing issue.

I disagree on the no go zones. Every time my wife flies into London (once a month or so) they lecture her on it.

Believe it?!? When all is said and done, I couldn't give a rat's arse what happens to the UK. But I do believe what my friends told me when they got back from London.

But when one speaks to people who actually live there, they scoff at that notion.

There are plenty of stories of how unsafe the US is, how tourists are shot or robbed at gunpoint, how lawless it is, how the streets are filled with the homeless.  Should people believe that as well?

Sure! Why Not. Southside Chicago is dangerous. You'd be silly to walk there anytime of the day Boethius. Albuquerqu NM is a gangbangers' paradise. El Paso - facing Cuidad Quarez is pretty volatile...South LA, Compton. No. Long Beach can be pretty rough. It is what it is...

Unlike a lot of western countries, we don't suppress reality within our borders just to make the world think we found utopia. I remember the time when Jacque Chirac made a remark when watching the tragedy in Katrina, and saw the unrest, poor neighborhood's living condition...he said, "That can never happen in France. We just can't allow it".

Then the streets of France started burning for almost 4 weeks soon after.

I know plenty of people who have gone to Chicago for vacations and not only survived, but loved it.  They rave about the Art Institute.  And the pizza.

Boe, the handlers and security teams that live there tell the flight crew these areas are not safe. They are locals and professionals.

Yes, if warranted they should believe that. Same reply as LFU. If someone is coming to visit me in Florida I will tell them not to visit certain neighborhoods. Overtown in Miami is one example. The chances of you getting killed as a tourist wandering around at night are 97.386%

I like Chicago as well.  As any big city, there are places that tourist (or anyone for that matter) shouldn't go.  Chicago is on another level for bad areas.  Over 700 homicides last year alone and it looks like it will be worst this year.

So far this year, SO. Chicago had surpassed last year's gun deaths in the same time frame. And last year's rate was a record.

I don't think European countries suppress reality.  Crime stats don't bear out what is being reported re London or Paris.

I know that there is no region of my city that I feel unsafe.  I've walked through the most "dangerous" parts of Vancouver (the East side) and Toronto (Jane and Finch), during the day and didn't find them unsafe either, although the East side was full of junkies, who can be dangerous before they're high.

I had to look it up because I heard January was pretty bad.  51 murders last month with 299 people shot.   It's become a 3rd world war zone there.
