There is talk that Russia wants the Baltics and other NATO countries to spend on their
own defense taking money away from Ukraine. The theory goes, if you are buying
munitions for your own military, Ukraine gets less.

Spooked by the war in Ukraine, Russia's Baltic neighbors prepare for future conflict
http://www.nbcnews.com/world/europe/baltic-states-nato-defense-latvia-war-in-ukraine-rcna237489

There is a definite stupidity within EU countries where they think that building up their military in a big spend out to produce a large, impressive, shiny army they can polish and look all good just sitting there and doing absolutely nothing is a good idea lol. All the while diverting money and armaments that they could give to Ukraine now to help them better fight and withstand the Russians. I could think of nothing more stupid than doing that, if Ukraine can fight Russia until Russia is exhausted and has no choice other than to quit Ukraine then that is the best way to defeat an aggressive powerful enemy without having to use any of your own countrymen or suffer any of the devastation and misery of war.

All the while Russia is distracted fighting in Ukraine it can't effectively wage war anywhere else. Now that we are in the fourth year of Russia's war in Ukraine, Russia no longer has any possibility of invading other countries that it might have done at the start of the war. Russia is now too weak for that. I think too that Russia is crossing into the airspace of the Baltic countries, Poland, Romania, etc to make these countries fear Russia so they divert their resources in the wrong way to their own military. If anything they are more likely to end up in a war with Russia in the long term by doing that. Things are looking up for Ukraine but if it's not properly supported there is always the risk of the long defensive lines breaking at the front due to lack of support and Russia making a sudden dramatic breakthrough. That seems less as time passes now but it's still a possibility. So the best strategy for EU countries, UK, etc really is to contribute as much as they can to the Ukraine war to make sure Russia can't win there.

After all a militarily and economically broken Russia could be out of being able to threaten anyone for decades and so that is really what to aim for.

Years after Putin ordered the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia’s
financial system is showing signs of vulnerability

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/10/17/russias-funding-for-ukraine-war-set-to-contract-as-new-sanctions-loom

It's even better than that now lol:

Russians are now queuing at the Fuel Stations as Ukraine is hitting all of Russia's oil producing infrastructure inside Russia, oil refineries, oil depots, etc all being hit with Ukrainian missiles :D

It's a great moved as Oil & Gas is at the heart of the Russian economy. Shut down that and you can collapse in the Russian economy fast. Now it's only a matter of time!

Fighting their own country: Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been forcibly conscripted by Russia

His story is far from isolated. Three and a half years after the start of the invasion of their country,
Ukrainians between the ages of 18 and 60 who were trapped in the occupied territories have been
forcibly conscripted en masse into the ranks of the Russian army, most often under threat. The
authorities in Moscow promised them they would not take part in the "special military operation.
" Yet they have been deployed in large numbers to the Ukrainian front to fight against their own
people, Le Monde has found.

Lithuania reopens airport after balloon incident, will shut Belarus border if it recurs
VILNIUS, Oct 22 (Reuters) - European Union member state Lithuania will close its border
with Belarus if smuggler balloons enter from the neighbouring country again, Prime Minister
Inga Ruginiene said on Wednesday.

Lithuania resumed flights at Vilnius Airport and reopened crossings with Belarus on
Wednesday following closures overnight when smuggler balloons entered the capital
city's airspace, the National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) said.

This is an article from Pravda which is the most biased paper in Russia
(Pravda means truth) it was the official paper of the communist party
back when the USSR was still around.
China Ready for a Fight: How EU Sanctions Are Launching a New Era of Relations
hina has announced its intention to take retaliatory measures in response to the European
Union's nineteenth round of anti-Russian sanctions. Brussels' actions not only infringe on
the interests of Chinese companies but also undermine the foundations of global energy
security, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce emphasized.
