Scam or not???
« on: April 06, 2018, 10:19:29 AM »
Hi all... Long time lurker first time poster...

So the dilemma...

Met this Ukrainian lady through a friend of a friend of a friend... Apparently she's living in London (for work)...or so she says

But...

Never has time to meet
Never answers her "UK number"
Told me she is an actress, but her English is poor/accented...so how does she perform then...
Only answers Facebook and WhatsApp messages...   plays hard to get too

Is there any way to check she is legit???  Have her name and phone number only....

Either way, she obviously isn't in to you.  Or she would let you know by giving you direct access.  Go back to the avenues that you met her and let the know of your concerns/her apparent lack of interest and ask them if she is legit.

Seriously, why waste your time trying to get that info. Women that are interested in you don't act like this so you should move on.... This is not rocket science.

She's from Nigeria. Those ladies ask for your number and call you. I gave my number to one of those ladies and those ladies will call from an American or UK phone number but they are really in Africa at the time of the call. They have poor English although they say they are born and raised in America or UK. Eventually they will tell you they are working in an African country and later tell you they have a problem with very bad men trying to hurt them, will need to get out of the country ASAP and hope you can rescue them.

plays hard to get too

That's because she's unavailable. Find somebody that likes you enough to the point she doesn't make it hard for you to get her.

Friend of a friend of a friend?!... Are you in London or not.  If so go and meet her.  If not and you are halfway around the world just forget it.

Welcome, JMASSEY

I apologise for the seemingly terse responses. .they are well intended

A spammer is person that you correspond with who attempts to extort money.

It appears this chat is not progressing as you would wish and we do not have enough info to judge. .

As she is a friend of a friend, surely that is the way to know?

Based on what you say, it does seem strange that an actress not adept in English would be in Britain..but then she might not be acting here..

Have you conversed? Is that how you know about her accent?

It is easy to get  UK, Ru, Ukraine number and then use it for WhatsApp. .yet be somewhere else.

We just cannot be certain. .

You must ask yourself, why do I care enough about this person to NEED to know more about them from a third party...

Good luck and no question is silly...I cannot be so kind about some of the answers you may get ))

Yes we met at a picnic in London last summer... She came with another lady who is a friend of a friend as I said ... We had chemistry and a little bit more ...well a gentleman never tells hehe

I was not able to get hold of her since... Despite messaging several times a day, WhatsApp facebook... So suspect now she was only visiting the UK and lied to me

She always has to "work" and very busy... Cannot even meet for a coffee.even for 15 mins... her profile states she is an "actuary" lol...who would cast her in London with such fluency...
One thing that occurred to me is that she possibly could be a sex worker...describing it as "actress" for decency...possible or not?

Also mentioned a couple of times of how expensive life in London is....like childcare mortgage  (to the best of my knowledge she is single so why why does she care...) is she testing me as potential mate or is preparing the ground to ask for money...confused

No. She is not interested in you.

Earlier you said she never has time to meet but you did meet? Some guys come here saying they met women and have chemistry but it's on the internet through messages.

She always has to "work" and very busy... Cannot even meet for a coffee.even for 15 mins...

If she like your looks, the way you talk, and liked how you performed in bed the first time, she'd be back again for a second round.

This isn't a scam if she decides she's not interested in you.

Unless you left out other details, like paying her for implied reasons.  Scams usually involve money.

Well there are are more than one clueless posters present. A year ago was your last 'contact' I can only comment dream on.

A woman from the fSU will make it clear, very clear, if she is 'into' you. This has little to do with age, education or beauty.

Assuming all is as reported a Slavic woman in England is highly regarded in London. I am assuming you are speaking of a junior assistant to an expert at Christie's or Sotheby's.

I wouldn't be too hard on the OP.  Perhaps he is used to more forthright women.  UW tend to be less direct in their rejections of men.  It's the ancient "I have to wash my hair" type of rejection.

Well, as nobody else seems to have picked this up...

If you don't know the difference between an actuary and an actress it's not surprising she didn't think you were worth expending any energy on.

hahaha... man you are spotting all the details today!   the big glaring one is, his last contact with her was last summer.  After how many messages or calls with no reply did he finally get the hint that she doesn't want to talk to him.  Unless he paid her money there is no scam.  She just didnt' wanna talk to him no more.

That’s just hilarious. Dude ponders if woman is a sex worker based on her level of English, but his misunderstanding of an English word is what leads him down this path of thought. Top notch stuff here.

I believe he does know the difference, hence the comment on who would hire her, in the U.K., with such fluency. What he seems to have missed is that she may be an actuary, rather than an actress, and he misunderstood her when they met.

I read it differently than others, and presumed he was referring to two different sentences in her profile.

i.e. she currently worked as actuary, but had ambitions to become actress.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Nah, he doesn't know what the meaning of "actuary" is....hence the quotes.  He thinks it's a misspelling of the word "actress".

Actresses get cast, not actuaries.  And the London part refers to her needing good English in an English speaking country.  Read his first post regarding her "poor English"...

JMassey so what happened, did she message you after all this time?!  You are in London.  Tons of Russians and Ukrainians there.  Go meet them.
