I have my passport with Russian visa( almost 3 years) and has never been stamped, plenty of stamps when entering Russia.

May I ask date of that registering stamp..... 199_ ??
You have one registration stamp for all your time in Russia on that visa?

I've never had my visa or passport stamped with any kind of registration info. They stamp your migration card and the registration itself.

my old passport almost had no space left for stamps
Russian visa has arrival/departure stamps
plus visa registration stamps (which because I was long term had to do)

Ukraine a LONG time ago had the Russian system
with visa registration, I still have that passport with registration stamps
usually done at a hotel or go to Ovir office

may it hereby be known by all men,

http://realrussia.co.uk/Visas/Russian/Registration

" registration involves placing a stamp either in your passport or on your migration card and obtaining a registration slip. The stamps and registration slip show the period you are registered to stay in any one place. In addition to the dates it will also contain the name of the hotel, accommodation or apartment, where you are staying and the name of the sponsor organisation.

because I was long term I always had to get this
if you go to another place you will have to register there as well
(all the places you listed in the visa application - if long term)

so absolutely there are ways you could end up with some Crimean city name with a Russian registration stamp on you passport
and as I said more than one possible way
depending on your "luck"
and I know this to be true, cuz it's on my passport as well...

This Ukraine - Russia - Crimea thingy is something like exists or at least used to exist regarding Cyprus-Greece and Cyprus-Turkey.

i.e.  Greece would get upset and maybe deny you entry to Greece or Cyprus-Greece if they saw stamp in your passport that indicated you arrived in Cyprus-Turkey.  Sometimes those arriving in Cyprus-Turkey would ask immigration there to put stamp on another piece of paper and not in the passport.  Moby and others probably have an update on this situation.
