not brave enough to say any names in particular, just the "government"
he might be talking about the guys in the DMV and not "he whose name must not be mentioned"

Snowden got his security clearance from a private security company called USIS that falsified their investigation of Snowden to save money, they were fined 30 million $
later when his unverified background was found to be false and he was going to be fired, he instead became a "whistle blower"
only question is was he a Russian asset before he did this or after and Russians are his protection

The Edward Snowden incident happened on Obama's watch. It also appears that former US VP Al Gore was responsible for the creation of USIS.
From Wikipedia:

Quote
USIS was founded in 1996 after the investigative branch, Federal Investigative Service, of the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was privatized. Its creation was due to an effort of Vice President of the United States Al Gore to reduce the size of the civil service. Originally known as US Investigations Services Inc.,[2] it was at first an employee-owned company.

Well, when I started this thread - that someone would try and make it about DEMs V REPs  wasn't a turn I expected - should have done, though ,,,

so the managers of a private company commit fraud and it’s Obama’s fault
was every gas station robbery during his administration Obama’s fault as well
why is it every time you scratch a republican and take a whiff
a strong odor of dumb ass fills the air
if the Republican party were to require an IQ test to join
they’d only take the people who failed the test
a people too stupid to even understand that they’re stupid
led by someone who perfectly reflects their ideals and values
and that’s why the whole stinking mass of ignorance and stupidity
is about to crash and burn
and drag them all down with it
and when this day happens
I shall rejoice

Ok, I think I need to call out bullshit on this and nip it in the bud.

I've never met Snowden, but did meet Assange years ago. Assange was legit then in exposing corruption as a journalist and still is. He was smeared in social media as a CIA plant, when that didn't work they went after him directly. Smearing Snowden as some kind of Russian plant is absolute bullshit. He clearly is an intelligent individual who gives a damn about his country. He got stuck in Russia because of circumstance, just like Assange is stuck in an Ecuadorian embassy. These guys have more integrity in their little fingers than full sitting of most parliaments around the world.

“He clearly is an intelligent individual who gives a damn about his country.”

so it’s bullshit, because you met someone else and thought that person was legit, therefor Snowden is legit

you really think he’s an altruist who cares deeply about others
and not a self promoter who used deception at every step
and is using “whistle blower" as a cover
a high school grad with minimal technical knowledge
but sailed in because his grandad was an admiral
people with integrity don’t lie to move up
because sooner or later they’ll get caught
and when he got caught
and about to face consequences
he did what he did
no altruism there folks
even though his girlfriend and I went to the same high school
if they were asking for volunteers for his execution
I’d raise my hand
why?
I’ve had clearances twice in my life
I know what it means to be given this trust
and what it means to break the trust
let him face the consequences he ran away from
or even worst stay in Russia where he belongs

I think with the American assault on wikileaks, Assange is now compromised by the Russians.  It's been proven that wikileaks published material received from Russia, and it's coverage of Russia, an authoritarian state, has been largely positive.

I don't think Snowden has any integrity.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
