5 Years
« on: August 06, 2006, 06:41:46 PM »
My Elvira and I have been celebrating August 5th annually
since she arrived - it was on that day we first met in Moscow
in 2001, spent the day strolling the Old Arbat, and enjoyed
dinner and dancing at the Yar Restaurant, which predates the
revolution. Our "Meeting Day" ranks high among more traditional
holidays and milestones.

This weekend we booked a nice high-rise room at Surfside Beach,
SC, and lazed around in the ocean, the pool and jacuzzi. We agreed
that the 5 years passed quickly, and we recounted a few of our
finer (and not so fine) moments in the timespan. She admitted to me
one transgression I'd never known of:"Remember my first response
to your letter? I didn't write it."
Purely canned agency chatter.
Apparently, a few guys wrote first - one AM barely taller than her,
one AM far older, and a Middle Easterner who sought to add a third or
fourth wife to his harem, LOL. She never answered any of 'em.
My letter included no photo, so she told the agency by phone to
simply reply on her behalf but to emphasize her want of a photo,
which, fortunately, I did attach to my second effort. This humorous
revelation was no surprise after reading these boards for four or so
years.

We had a fabulous weekend - gourmet meals, a romantic walk
down miles of moonlit shoreline, a midnight dip, but best of all,
some sorely needed relaxation together. Elvira's a great wife,
and I am blessed. These getaways need to happen more often!

Thanks, T/Guy. We've been working our buns off and
needed downtime. Over some prime rib and margaritas
we vowed to step up our personal vacation schedule.
