Valentine's Day or Women's Day, is there a choice?
« on: February 11, 2019, 11:22:01 AM »
Amazing.

With Valentine's Day coming up, and having dated FSU women, I thought I was off without an obligation.   Yet there it was, a hint about what I was to get her for Valentine's Day!!!

Dating FSU women has always focused around International Women's Day.

Am curious to know what married couples practice here in the States and other Western Countries.

(Am convinced its both!)

Wife and I have a lot of anticipation for romantic times on Valentines Day, and always have for our 8 years together.
Even as we don't necessarily do anything on the 'official' day.
For instance, this year we will celebrate on Friday instead of Thursday, for obvious reasons.

Women's day . . . I just say congratulations . . . she doesn't mind.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

Russia Belarus and Ukraine have different woman's day dates  plus 14 february and 2 Xmas.  I'm sure if they could they would celebrate Chinese New year.  Happy year of the pig.

No they don't.  It's March 8, world over.

Valentine's Day has only been recognized since the collapse of the USSR, and was not recognized in Russia before the Revolution.

I give my wife something nice and personal on Valentine's Day, and only flowers on Woman's Day.  Of course, a restaurant on both days.

Flowers and candy at the least........for both holidays. And we send stuff to my Mother-in-law.......on Mother's Day. We put up the Christmas tree a few
days before the holiday (live tree) and take it down after the Orthodox holiday. But we do draw the line at "International Pencil Sharpening Day".

Jone,

We celebrated Valentine's day  Sunday, mostly over schedules,
And yeap we will do something for womens day also.
Its not that I feel I have to, as she wouldn't mind skipping the 8th,and often tells me to,
its that its another good reason to appreciate our lives together in some way. So both holidays it is!
Why not? :)

T sent me a poem for International Women's Day:

Quote
Восьмое марта близко-близко!
И сердце бьется как олень...
Не подведи меня, пиписька,
В Международный женский день!!!
