MaccyD’s near Metro Tolstoya. It’s heaving with hotties.

Teenage hotties? Those seem to be the usual hangers out.

Trench, I was stating the rules as is.
Even with the relaxation from tomorrow:
Travel is getting expensive Trench, with all the tests etc one has to do at both ends.
I doubt you’ll afford it.
Anyway, just to cheer you up, I’m at MaccyD’s near Metro Tolstoya. It’s heaving with hotties.

JG, I said, "Good question Bill. Well theoretically after the 17th May people in the UK can travel just about anywhere I think for a holiday."

You replied, "This just shows how little you know. You really ought to keep up with the current govt guidelines and restrictions."

So you knew what I was talking about but you got it wrong so you were hoisted by your own petard! ;D

Anyway once I get my second Vaccine in early June I will get my vaccine passport so won't need to do quite so many tests. So I will soon be there to enjoy the hotties with you :P

You thought wrong.

You stated yourself that, "People should not travel to amber countries, the government says, but from 17 May it will no longer be illegal."

So if it is not illegal then you can :)

No Trench, I’m not wrong. The world is not your oyster just yet.

The govt may have removed the ‘illegality’ from its travel restrictions but is still saying don’t travel to amber/red countries.

Doesn’t surprise me.
Now sit back and wait for the 3rd wave.
I don’t think travel will be on the cards for you this side of Christmas Trench.
Another year of missed opportunity and no hotties for you.

On an aside, I was on the metro last night and it was packed. No social distancing possible and pretty guaranteed that more than a few in those crowds infected and spreading the virus.

We want to travel to Russia, Smiley girl has a baby that we need to
see.

Angel Eyes has been checking with the local Russian girls network and
apparently nobody knows what the rules are. Angel Eyes and I could get
vaccinated but Mini Me can't.

Some info here Bill

Travel to Russia

Very little info there in regard to Americans traveling.
Very little news yet about when restrictions will/if be lifted. Maybe mid to late June some news.
At moment, being vaccinated gives you NO access to bypass any restrictions. Bill might be able to use special circumstance of relatives being able to get into Russia but you would already have valid visa since visas not being issued at moment.
I have flight late August I hope to take. Past 3 trips were cancelled.

Perhaps no specific info for just Americans but there certainly was quite a lot of information concerning non Russian nationals which would apply.
Wouldn’t Angel Eyes travel as a Russian national?

I'll have a flight in June, plan to stay for few months. Husband will be happy being free  :D.
At that moment 2 tests for Russian citizens after arrival,  that's all.

This article may be off use to anyone from the US, UK or EU areas about EU areas and travel:

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/19/coronavirus-covid-british-tourists-to-eu-may-have-to-quarantine-even-if-vaccinated

I personally don't think UK visitors will have to quarantine even if vaccinated on arrival in an EU country. It will likely take a few days to couple of weeks or so before it all starts to settle down and ease up. My guess is that when the UK reviews it's list of Green countries list on the 3rd June it will include many countries currently on the Amber list. Tends to go that way I've noticed, a lot of fuss upfront then the desire to not miss out on economic activity tends to ease it all up a lot more. Looks like other countries are starting to progress a little on their vaccination programs in Europe and elsewhere and so things will probably improve a fair bit fairly soon to make travelling a bit easier I reckon.

A further update from the EU for those eligible to travel in from third countries:

"EU Amends Entry Ban to Allow Travel From More Third-Countries - SchengenVisaInfo.com" http://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-amends-entry-ban-to-allow-travel-from-more-third-countries/

So it's looking like they will accept reciprocal arrangements from certain third countries with a similar vaccine passport scheme to theirs, so likely the UK scheme will be fine. So likely the first step in it all easing up a bit. Assuming Indian variant doesn't sideline it all then I reckon it's worth waiting to travel for a few weeks as it will probably ease up a lot more in that time so being a lot less hassle then as it may be at present.

Trench,

Quote from: The Guardian
At a Downing Street press conference the health secretary, Matt Hancock, said the government had been “absolutely straightforward” in that while travel to the 170 or so amber list destinations was legal, people should not do so without an urgent reason such as a funeral or serious family illness.
I don’t think dipping your wick is a sufficiently urgent reason.  :D

No more countries added to the green list of travel countries today and one taken off, Portugal. So now only 11 countries left in the UK's green travel list. List due to be updated in three weeks time, so just before we get to July I'm guessing.

Virus cases up to 4000 ish today for previous day from 3000 and something for the day before. Looks like the Indian variant is causing the rising virus numbers. Concern is that the Indian variant is causing a few more hospitalisations than the Kent variant or standard Coronavirus. With now over 75 percent of the adult population having had their first jab and 50 percent having had their second jab it's likely to be kept under control. Further vaccinations could push the infection rate down. We'll have to see whether vaccinations could bring an early end to this virus.

Anyway, trips to Ukraine still a few weeks away at least but kind of expected that. Plenty of time to prepare and hopefully get my house conversion finished off.

Up a thousand more infections for previous day so 5000's overall. That's a lot in one day and if it continues will mean a lot of infections in a week or so here in the UK. So looks like the Indian variant is behind the rising infection rate. Probably this time may just be a case of riding it out as most people vaccinated now and pretty much all those in the most vulnerable category Vaccinated. So will likely be a case of many people getting it but fewer hospitalised and relatively few deaths I'm guessing.

Will probably mean flights abroad might be out in the short term though possibly is my thoughts. Hopefully not for too long and still get over to the FSU this year with a bit of luck.

Well, I booked my ticket to Kyiv today for the 2nd July, staying till the end of the month.
I already have insurance so just my PCR text to do a few days prior to departure.
The weathers blooming gorgeous there now. I just spoke to my family out in Shevchenko Park. Lots of people/families out enjoying the sunshine.
My wife said there were lots of English speaking kids in the playground.  There are always a couple there anyway, I’ve noticed.
Anyway, counting down now. Something to look forward to.  :D

My plan is somehow delayed, but I still keep it alive, if possible, to go to July in Ukraine.Fellas, let me know and drop me a PM with your Ukrainian phone to have a drink together.
