I did it ALL in One Week
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:54:11 PM »
My title is correct. I went fishing for 1 week and had fun. I caught all
the fish that my freezer could hold.

I'm saying howdy from Texas and saying hello to all the other posts below me.
And, the Dallas Cowboys are America's NFL team.

Hi Mark,  Thanks for the bio.  You sure you are not beattle in disquise?  Glad the fishing was good.  I need to find out what you used for bait!

Best wishes to Mark from Texas from TurboGuy in the Pittsburgh area home of the superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, thanks to Rothelsburger, Bettis and the worst Ref's in the history of the super bowl.

What was going down here.  If you mean about the Beattle part, I was just joking because one week was a little shorter in his discription of himself than most have been which is fine.  He has talked about himself some before.   It just reminded me of Beattle's posts which are almost always very short.  I knew he was not Beattle, I was just joking.

I am assuming you meant that part and not the football part.  Since he was mentioning the Cowboys I was just rubbing in that we lucked into a super bowl trophy last year.  Of course the Cowboys have thier share of Lombardi trophys as well and didn't need help from the officials to win it.

I thought Pittsburgh deserved to win.  As far as I am concerned the controversial calls would not have decided the games outcome.

Parcells is doing a great job rebuilding a recently morbid Dallas Cowboys team.  As long as Parcells is there I give them a shot, but a long shot this year.  I'd give them another couple of years before I'd expect them to be real super bowl contenders.

There is a tremendous amount of competition in the NFL.  It should be a good season.

Although I do like American Football I have to say that Rugby players are the toughest SOBs out there followed by Hockey players. Gotta love those guys carrying big sticks with razor blades on their feet.

It will be interesting to see how well "the Tuna" handles the big baby in Dallas!

I'm gonna hafta call shenanigans on the both of you.  :P

Yes, rugby players are tough.  Nowhere near as tough as American football players, though.  I know, I know, our guys wear armor, theirs prance around the field in little girly panties, so of course they must be tougher, since it's a "full contact sport" too, but that's BS.

Watch the contact. Bumping and shoving is NOT the same as launching a 285-lb short range missile in the form of a defensive tackle, no matter how many teeth rugby players lose.  Friend of mine knew a guy, professional rugby player, went to a tryout with an NFL team.  Came away with a whole different point of view about those "sissy" shoulderpads and such, he did.

Said that without them . . . the field would've been littered with corpses.  :o

And in fact, that's why they were adopted in the first place.  Look it up.  Way back, something like 42 players died from onfield injuries in a single season. They've used pads ever since.

"Show" my a$$. That's a sport, that is.

dunno where he was born but he was a public school, in Rugby when he picked the ball up and ran with it. Hence, 'rugby'.

We have two versions, Rugby Union, played generally by posh bastards, and rugby league, generally played instead of going to prison.

French ancestor of Rugby was called La soule and was played between two villages, in the south west of France. The most interesting part in Rugby is the third period.

By the way, America's NFL team just ended their last pre-season game with a tie when it went to double overtime. So they are 3-0 and one tie for pre-season.

When I was in Germany several days ago, when my wife and I were walking around, we kept hearing loud chears from pubs. I knew Soccer was finished, but then I learned the Germans were pulling for their basketball team that includes the Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowiski. So, American sports are spreading.

But, the Rugby players are still some of the tougher players in sports.

And Soccer is gaining more interest in America. I think Soccer would be more interesting if they made the field shorter. It gets boring waiting for them to get close to the goal. It's like watching tennis.

Rugby is a very tough sport. I think that soceer is very boring.  They just kick the ball, run around, and hit the ball with their shoulders.  I like a sport, like football, that has real action.

I feel the same way you do Beattle, soccer bores me to death.  Yet Europeans and South Americans think of it as an exciting game and American Football bores them to death.  I think it is what you grew up with.  Soccer is more non stop action, Football takes a lot of breaks between the action.  That seems to be the complaint about AF.

Glad to hear America's team had a good preseason.  Today they are 3-0-1.  Tomorrow they are 0-0.    Since we are 0-4 I will be more than happy to go to 0-0.

Sorry TG, according to OWW there is only one team. Guess they will spend the whole season playing with themselves until they become the Champions of America! All the other teams that used to exist have been fired... ;D
