Starting wages at Walmart are $16.40 per hour or roughly $34,112.00 per year.

This website on June 22, 2022 indicates the $16.40 is average pay for all of WalMart, not beginning pay.

http://www.supermarketnews.com/retail-financial/walmart-hire-over-50000-workers-q1

Walmart U.S. Chief People Officer Julie Murphy wrote in a blog at the time that Walmart’s average U.S. hourly wage stood at $16.40, with store positions paying up to $34 an hour. Walmart previously reported that it pays supply chain associates an average hourly wage of $20.37.

I have seen a lot of postings on store and fast food windows indicating starting wage of around $12.00.

He doesn't understand what wealth is. Having a job making less than starting
wages at Walmart is as related to wealth as riding a stick horse is to horse
racing. I can see how a 4 year old could mix them up but not an adult.

Starting wages at Walmart are $16.40 per hour or roughly $34,112.00 per year.

Stick horse races are very popular events at community rodeos.

Very funny Bill, lol.

The minimum wage here is currently £9.50 per hour and Employers can't pay below that, legally. So Supermarket work over here will pay £9.50 or so but not a lot more. Actually for younger workers there is a lower minimum wage, those below 25 I think but you get the idea. I do t work in a Supermarket but over here supermarket work has two problems, one low pay and the other image. A hot FSW will end communication the moment anything where the job indicates low social status, at least in her mind. The job could pay just the same as something she would regard as a high status job without the ordeal & stress but the job title itself would be a turn off. I've had that happen to me a few times and brought up a couple of occasions on here. It's part of the reason when the house is done and rent money coming in the job will go. It's a good easy going job, not high pay, low pay but the job itself doesn't invoke high status in a females mind and that would be a problem.

The project took two years from beginning to end
the first year it was just my wife’s extended family doing the labor (but I paid them!)
and the second year family hired friends they trusted to help
plus people I’d hire for transporting materials, etc
my project management spreadsheet allocated $2.00 per hour for labor (it’s been awhile, maybe double now!)

no one with specialized knowledge was involved in this construction
this is what’s AMAZING about the people there!
They are TOO POOR to afford anything but food and utilities
so they do EVERYTHING on their own, cuz it’s the only way they can afford to “do stuff”
when my Lada had developed a fuel pump leak, I was gonna buy a new fuel pump and replace it
father-in-law stood aghast, “chivo?
He took the fuel pump apart, and measured the gasket
then he rummaged in his garage until he found a thick sheet of neoprene rubber
then he traced the gasket on it, and cut it with an X-acto knife
Voila! New fuel pump gasket, zero cost

so picture building a house THIS WAY!!
this is NOT MADNESS, THIS IS CRIMEA!

That's done amazingly cheap labour costs Krim, even $4 an hour now would be cheap, wouldn't mind getting they sweated a fair bit getting all that stone up, a pretty heavy going task. Photos only from a distance of course but the walls all seem pretty straight so looks like they did a good job, look cracking with all that stonework, very nice. What do you reckon the rough overall cost was when it was done?

Material and labor for the main house came to about $40,000
land was 3 contiguous dacha plots, that varied between $3,000 to $10,000 depending on the number of shacks it had!!!

doesn’t include furnishings, pool, and other improvements…

paperwork was minimal, and done AFTER it was built, had to privitize buildings and land
and when Russia took over Crimea, I gave the property to in-laws as a gift
a couple of years later, I bought a mansion near Khamovniki District, from accumulated bitcoin exchange cash, on a clear day I can see city center, and the river marina is nearby
but don’t wanna show any pics, cuz ya never knows whose search engine might find it

That's real, real cheap krim. Definitely the sort of good value for money I like :) So I'm guessing you're saying when you had to privatise it you set up a company and put it in that? I always wondered if that's not a bad idea to do when property is in Ukraine (when it was in Ukraine lol) as there can be a lot of corruption there. Whether doing so stops corruption who knows. I would be kind of surprised if no one had a crack at taking that place while it was in Ukraine or you having to pay someone off a fair bit as would have thought it would stand out a bit. My mind tends to think corrupt Ukrainians would have been drawn to that like a magnet. Get the impression some Ukrainians are always up for trying it on out there.

NO Trench,

I have many female allies, and I exchange my loyalty for theirs…
as a result, I don’t have any “trust issues” with them

In Ukraine, I put legal documents in my wife’s name, since she had both types of Ukrainian passports, and a tax ID

this property was not in a major city, just an area that belonged to the village dachas from the laborers of some former failed soviet agricultural collective
so it’s not even remotely on anyone’s radar, so it’s pretty safe from theft in the courts

different story in Moscva, but I’m not allowed to talk about that

the more female friends and helpers you have, the easier your life becomes, 'horrosho

Yeah I get you Krim, think my issue was the odd girl who was a bit questionable on the loyalty front. I can see though from other Ukrainian girls I have messaged online that many can be a lot more trustworthy potentially.

I think if you can get into a situation where the woman and her family are ready to accept you are a part of their family, or clan if you like then it's a lot more beneficial situation to all involved rather than preying of each other or not really getting along. I can see that if the land didn't have any agricultural or industrial value as in virtually in a wasteland area then its somewhere that wouldn't gain much interest. In a way a smart move as like you've said before allows you to do stuff without prying eyes. I'm guessing the ball game is on a whole new level in Moscow. Myself I wouldn't mind doing something out Ukraine way but think what I would have in mind would likely draw too much attention in Ukraine, I wouldn't mind opening a hotel, I would need to raise finance by getting investors onboard. Ukraine though I just don't trust it, just too much corruption from what I hear. I'm not sure Ukraine becoming a EU candidate member will change that.

Trench,
there WAS a time when it made SENSE to do "stuff" like this in Ukraine
but NOW is NOT that time

now is the time to "hunker down" at home

Only a quarter or less through this thread and I have say -- this one is fascinatingly entertaining...  ;D
