Just out of interest wondered what members choice of news service is here? For a while I hadn't been content with the news services I had been using on my mobile phone but struggled to find a solution. The other day I finally sorted it. I used to have the BBC, Sky News, and more recently CNN news apps. The BBC News app went when they wanted registration but still I wasn't keen with either BBC or Sky. I tended to find them often having stories irrelevant to my life and stuff that's a bit depressing, i.e people getting murdered, shot, done in, etc. I kind of find that stuff not the sort of thing I wish to hear about as it's doesn't help my outlook of life I feel. That said I didn't wish to get rid of News info completely as then I would be out of the loop on stuff that I want to know about - generally international affairs, and the mains concerns of a country such as the UK, i.e health service, main government issues, economy, etc.
In the end I found the solution, as said I deleted BBC News & Sky News apps - which may seem surprising as traditionally those are seen as the big brand name news services and instead now use 'Euro News'. I find Euro News delivers the news I want without the tiresome personal interest news shall we call it on repeat. Seems not being centred on mainly the UK but in more European news means they handily skip over a lot of the UK personal interest news I find so annoying. That's a great relief to me, I know it sounds probably a bit strange being a guy in favour of Brexit but Euro (News) doesn't really mean it's linked to the Euro (Currency) EU, though the name might give that impression. It's French based apparently but at least serves my purpose.
So yeah a lot of all that was really about not spending too much ine reading the news particularly depressing stuff I didn't need to know about. That I felt I was doing too much off and I think feel a bit better for the change now. CNN I still have and very occasionally still look at mostly I find it good for notifications pushed to me in international news stuff, the more US side of the continent, etc, whereas Euro News on the more European side of the continent.
Anyhow suffice to say I tried quite a lot of News Apps along the way but ditched them quickly again for various reasons. Some weren't clear & bold enough, some waffled, some had the same annoying personal interest rubbish on, etc, etc. Back in the day I had tried the RT app before it was banned but found the politics bent/propaganda just a bit too full on as it kind of overpowered the news on there. It wasn't really that relevant to the news I wanted to know about.
I tried some other US News apps also but none of them sat well enough with me for so e reason or another. I think mainly most were to centred on what was going on in the US too much and less so internationally.
So that's pretty much it, not really life changing stuff necessarily but I prefer to get the news without feeling the negative of stuff I don't want to hear about. These days think any area that can be identified to uplift life a little can be a good thing. Not sure how other members here feel on all of this?
