RW anatomy lesson(s) 

In my experience the best way to learn Russian anatomy is in a darkened room
with a naked RW and a flashlight. I did this and I was rewarded with kisses
when I got the word correct (I got better fast). For those of you without a
girl and a flashlight, I have made these flashcards of sorts. I don't know
if this is the next best thing, but it's better than trying to remember without
photos (in my opinion).

There is no specific difference in Russian between fingers and toes. You have hand fingers and
foot fingers (I think) Someone might come in and explain it better, but until then..........

A friend described this for me some time ago. I am copying and pasting, plus editing so I could goof this up.
пальцы и пальцы ноги = pal'tsy i pal'tsy nogi Pal'tsy and Pal'tsy nogi= fingers and toes. You can add
the word for legs (ноги) Nogi to distinguish which are toes.


Singular
палец = pal'ts = finger

палец ноги = pal'ts nogi = toe (the word "leg" denotes its a toe versus finger)


Plural
пальцы = fingers

пальцы ноги = toes

pal'ts what is the ' doing in there? It's so that you use a soft
L rather than a hard L. When you say l like in Lampposts you say the
hard L. A soft L you move your tongue further back in the roof of your
mouth.

Everyone needs to know that my Russian skills are beginner level at best
and that I say EVERYTHING wrong with a terrible accent. I do get
points with FSUW for trying and so will you. This is not Paris, where you
will get eye rolls if everything isn't perfect French.
