And, if the mail order marriage industry is so great for women, then why aren't American women flocking to the Internet to find foreign husbands?

Because nobody will them...  ::)

But I say the mere act (to wit, the bizarre act) of deciding to marry someone from a foreign country who is just about guaranteed to be less well educated and...

I think that the author of the article is less educated that my Ukrainian girlfriend... I am sure that my Ukrainian girlfriend know more about the rest of the world that these author who seem to think that all is outside USA is less educated...

Dan, i like this article... it is the perfect example why American seek a wife abroad... Who wish a bitch who think that she is superior to every nation other that his own and to every male... The author from the article need to consult a psy... a study from her history show clearly that a the age of 15, she have learn to hate men due to the influence of his grand-mother...

Own words from Bonnie Herbes :
Quote
When I was about 15 years old, I asked by grandmother (by then about 70) why she had never remarried. This despite the fact she was widowed 15 years earlier. She responded, in her heavily accented English: "Vat, and be a slave to anozer man?" Her answer knocked me emotionally across the room. I had never considered marriage to be a form of "slavery." But the older I get, and the more marriages I observe, the more sense her statement makes to me

The article has a lot of things that are questionable.

Contrary to the writer and Bruno, I think that when we include sites like Match.com and Lavalife, the total number of AW seeking a partner on the Internet is much larger than the total number of RW.
Education, as Bruno said is generally high among FSU women, and the number of them that will accept 'slavery'is low. Which leave the weak financial position. This is a relative thing, as the RW that seek a job after mastering the language often do well.

The influence of her grandmother is clear, just as her general contempt of marriage.
However she does give an interesting statistic. 37.500 women entering and 9.500 reaching permanent status. That makes 25%

However she does give an interesting statistic. 37.500 women entering and 9.500 reaching permanent status. That makes 25%

Wait a little... it is not what it is wrote...

- 1998, 2500 foreign women reaching permanent status under the Violence Against Women Act

- 2004( six year after in the text ) , 9500 foreign women reaching permanent status under the Violence Against Women Act

- 37500 foreign women have enter USA in 2006

Now, maybe some context... a FSU women who apply for permanent status mean that she is already two year in USA... add the K1 procedure time and the dating periode, let say 1.5 year... total 3.5... mean that for the girls who have apply in 1998, the dating process have begin around half 1994 !!! In these periode, internet was only "beginning" ( netwerk appear in public in 1990, first "www" in 1992, first brower in 1993 )... and FSU was with almost no agency, no internet, always enough closed country ( The USSR was officially dissolved in December of 1991 )...

This is the perfect example how people manipulate statistic... they compare the evolution of K1 visa from 2003 to 2006, with the evolution of women reaching permanent status under the Violence Against Women Act between 1998 and 2004...

Beware when you read statistic... for be valid, you need all the data, the methodologie, the context, the original question... all you read in newspaper or hear in TV show are personal interpretation from partial result...

I think if one remembers that not all imported wives come from the FSU and not all of those that do are the flower of their generation then it is probably hard to disagree with the general truth of Erbe's statements.

It can hardly be denied that when a man lands his 'bride' that he is, absent externalities, in a much stronger postition in almost all respects than his wife. I can not see anyw ay that an objective viewer could think otherwise.

As noted elsewhere, Erbe is concerned about immigration issues in general. This is an aspect of immigration that is significant and important.

I think the 9500 WAVA applications are probably just the tip of the iceberg that's slowly melting..

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1676640/posts

If I were one of these women of course I would scream abuse..  Quite likely every one of them will now receive a green card.

I submit ANY woman that somehow gets across the border can find some ruse to apply and be accepted without too many questions asked.

Maybe cops will even start thinking twice about busting the local fun house... -with reason..

Will probably take double or triple these figures before someone upstairs shakes enough dust out of their noggin to see the real mess they created.

[edit]  btw I just googled for the website mentioned above and picked for content, not political orientation etc..
