how far down is that stuff?

LOL, everyone asks that question.  About 2.5 seconds, as sound travels through the earth.  That is a 4 second seismic record, not a drill log.

Alas.....Kansas seems to aim on making this tail end of 2006, memorable for those poor dislocated Texans....

We are really having a dandy storm and it appears we will top a foot or more of that white stuff...And this darned wind is causing drifts!  :(

I suppose the kids that got sleds and other snowgear are happy but I for one will be happy to see it gone....Or course they always say the farmers are happy (only I am not a farmer). Please pray we have lots of sunshine and a good chinook wind soon....

Turbo we can be glad we live in PA.. Looks like Santa has
left a lot of red in Texas. Nothing like tornadoes for the holiday!
I hope our Texas friends are allright!

JB see what you do when you start shaken that earth lol!
Turbo enjoy your golf outing but get ready for some serious
western PA winter. I think we will be next. Our wildlife study showed
some data this past fall that we did not want to see. I hope it all
stays out west.

Hopefully winter here will hold off for a while.  In about 4 weeks I head for warm sunny Thailand and a day after I get back I head for southern California, with a stop in Reno.   If it stays warm long enough here maybe I will get lucky and miss Winter.

I see a heat wave coming your way! +15F and snow today. Ah, lawn chairs, coolers of beer, and a BBQ will be the order of the day in KS!  ;D

At least you have the NFL playoffs to look forward to this weekend.

And guess what?  It's cold in North Texas this weekend, too....the ice here maybe makes it worse than Kasas.

We are "iced" in.  Vik wants to go to the store for some yarn to make another sweater for me, but I told her "no."  So she is reading a "thriller" of mine.  But she does not like all the killings :-) LOL

So now she is watching the game, cheering for the BEARS in support of AJ & Tanya  ;D

She picked up american football pretty fast. Next up is the New England/San Diego game.  This one's for KenC...   And of course, LT played his college ball here at TCU.

I really believe someone should either have a good talk with the weatherman or fire him.....Enough of this winter!

The only thing we can be thankful for, is that we didn't get the ice that fell further east.....Those of you in Missouri and Oklahoma are really dealing with a mess.

We could sure use some of that Global warming we hear about....

jb is you crew able to get out in this mess? seventeen and a half inches of snow over New Years and what a mess! On top of the snow before Christmas....and then the Arctic blast! At least when we were in Fairbanks, we had a wardrobe that kept us warm !

Some of you would scratch your heads at the Snow removal effort we have here.....

Spring will not arrive to soon !

Momma D, we have not missed a day.  We get our day started at 6 AM and give it our best shot.  It's slow going for sure and we've hired some local farmer with their mega-hp tractors to move snow for us so we are still plugging along.

I couldn't be prouder of my merry little band of cut-throats.

Well.... I am wondering if Global Warming has gone the Other way.....

I am sick and tired of this snow down the middle of the street....

Now I don't mind a little now and then ...... But not every weekend !

jb did you by any chance bring it with you?

I do hope the efforts of your band of Texans is worth it !

Nope, Momma, we don't have weather like this in south TX.

Actually, yes, 2 gas wells were drilled just south of town last month based on data we acquired last winter.

With the additional 4-6 inches of snow we got last night, on top of the 20+ inches we already had, things are bogged down a bit in Goodland, KS.

For a crew of hardy souls that normally gets 200+ source points a day, we got just 46 today, things are not looking Good, in Goodlland.  So much so that I'm busily shopping for a newer, bigger, more capable work truck,,, this time for a 4X4 with big lug snow tires.  Geesh, what a mess this place is~!  I hate having to write a check for $20K + my trade-in, just to finish this job, but I may have to if I want to stay in business .

Clients are rather narrow minded, they expect a contractor to show up with the proper equipment to do the job,,, no matter what the weather throws at you.

Bummer...

T/G,

If it makes you feel any better, I traded today for a near new 4X4 Chevy Suburban/w all the whistles and bells, and had to write a check for just $13,000.  I have a personal problem justifying that first years deprecation, so I always buy last years model with a few miles on the clock.  Saves me a lot of dough in the long run.

If the weather ever improves enough to take pictures, I'll post a photo.  It's a very nice truck...

Congratulations jb.   I am glad to see you are well equiped for the job now.  Hopefully now that you have something that will handle the adverse weather a heat wave will arrive again.

Buying something not quite new with a few miles is a good way to save some bucks.   Back a few years I did that a lot and managed to put 300,000 miles on a couple I bought that way.   Another way to save a few bucks is to not trade anything.   When I bought mine a few years ago they knocked off $ 7,000 for no trade.  The truck sold for $ 34,000 and I got it for $ 27,000 cash,(plus tax) along with a $ 27,000 tax deduction.  My former truck would have only brought about the same in trade and we have used it for a shop truck since.   Probably need to do that again in a year or so.
