Uh ha right, jb,
You're excited about the camera and Etna is excited about the truck, whatever ;)

You two go act like a couple of teenagers and get back to us in a couple of days!  (No T/R necessary)

That's got to be the best news you've had in months! Good for you both!

... and yes, you better clean up "her" new truck!

Well, considering I haven't seen her in 3 months, it is good news.

BTW... She's coming back nicely after being in a funk for awhile after her mom died just before Christmas,,, it would be an undertatement to say we had a pretty crappy holiday season this year.  It cheers her to know that both boys will be with us next year and our little family will be complete again.

It was just one of those rough spots life hands you now and again.

jb's eyes are crossed and his tongue is hanging out.

I put Etna on a plane in Colorado Springs at 3:00 PM, she'll be back home in CC around 9:30 tonight.

We had a blast~!  After 3 months apart there was a sense of rediscovery and rededication for our relationship.  We rediscovered that we were still very much in tune with each other, and our feelings for each other are as strong as ever.  We rededicated ourselves to the task of making this work for another 5 years.

She went to the field with me on Friday, met the key people on the crew, and just blew them away with her physics background.  This woman absorbs scientific inforrmation like a sponge.  No surprises there for me.  Not only is she beautiful and talented, she's also very smart.

I rediscovered the wonderful wife that I already knew I had, as she pitched in and completely organized my little field office, went to the office supply store and picked up all those little things to help me with the bookkeeping chores, got the receipts in order for the tax man, and generally made herself very useful...

To say nothing of doing my laundry and taking care of the "wifely" duties.

I sincerely hope all you guys find a woman as special as the one I did.

I'm sure you know this already but I'll say it anyway.

jb, you are a very lucky and blessed man!

If you find a good one, like many here have and like I have, there is just nothing better in this world than how they love you, care for you, and take care of you. It isn't like comparing apples to oranges between AW and FSUW. It's more like comparing apples to a first class fruit basket with chocolates and a bottle of Dom. There simply is no comparison.

If I could have met every woman in the world there is no way I could have found anyone who is a better match for me than my Elena. Every day is a treasure since she came into my life.

Ken

KenC.  Yes indeed.  It made for a nice read after what they have been through.  Sorta makes me jealous in the nicest possible way.

jb,
It is easy to be a good partner when everything is rosy.  The special ones step up under diversity.  And that door swings both ways, jb.  You and Etna deserve each other.  Hope the future doesn't test you two too much.

BTW, that was a heart warming post from an ol' codger like you!

I love this mentality  ::)
Rule #1 You have to make the money first, then you can think about deductions
Rule #2 30,000 dollars less taxable income is not equal to 30,000 tax free dollars, it will almost invariably be less than half
Rule #3 Folks who are self employed pay self employment tax over and above regular income tax, and that can eat your lunch QUICK!

Hmmmm....this has me thinking. I am going to buy a car this year. 218,000 now on the Exploder odometer. In my line of work I can depreciate the vehicle as a business expense, plus mileage and repairs. This is the last year of the sales tax credit? Seems like a good year to buy a car. With a son in college, and all other expenses a lower priced car is more necessary than a higher priced one. Used or new? So what I need is a good CPA to figure this out for me, it seems. To buy a car should be fun. Not a business decision.

Well, she did like the Suburban, and I do like the Nikon,,, but that was not the focus of our weekend.

LOL, the thing she liked most about the truck was the heated leather seats.  I thought the DVD player would be a hit but she just glossed over that.

My BMW has the heated leather seats. First car that I have owned with them but I never think to use them. Perhaps the value of the DVD will dawn on her later. I notice that many of the 2007 model year cars have the capability of accepting an iPod. With a DVD and iPod capability what else could a road warrior want? Unless it was a Sirrus maybe.

With IPods and other MP3 players, you can buy a little FM transmitter device that slides into the headphone outlet.  Then you tune your FM radio to the correct frequency and the MP3 will play through your car radio, or any other FM radio you are near.

The Kansas trip is finally over and jb is now back at home, warming his bones in 70+ degree weather.  Etna and the kids missed me and my welcome home celebration dinner was wonderful.  Complete with caviar, salty fish, Russian salads, Russian Shashlik, and even some Russian Standard.

It's good to be home at last.
