We don't have as much of a Russian population around here.  We do have an Orthadox church not far away and have a nationality days near here where they have all the different nationalites represesented including Russian and Ukrainian but not much else.

I had a Ukrainian gal visit me for a month last year and she did help me find a few things

She told me about a big get together in Southern New York state that is held each year.   I got the impression it is sort of the Sturgis for Russians and Ukrainians.  She had gone once a few years ago.   I guess they have it in a forest someplace and all camp out, get drunk and party hardy.    I had the impression there were thousands of Russians attending.   Anyone know anything about it??????

So 8 days have gone by and still no letter.

I'm hoping by next Saturday because it's my birthday.

Having the approval would be a nice gift from Vermont.

My actual letter did not come till about 5 days after the approval so it could be sitting in the NVC being processed right now and you just don't know it.   Good luck with it.   I know how much I worry about this coming through so I am sure that you are feeling the same.

I got an RFE as well

One of the most common mistakes is sending in docs that are photocopies that dont have ORIGINAL SIGNATURES On them.    For an attorney done deal to cause an RFE is totally inexcusable.  Your paying him to not make oversights.

You can go on the USCIS site and check your status if you know your reciep number (its on the back of the check they cashed)

It was approved April 18 and left the NVC April 25.

Not sure when Irina will receive the Packet 3.

The attorney seems to think it can take up to 4 weeks to reach her but it seems extreme to me.

I think he is probably right on that.   I think Kiev is running pretty fast right now.   With Moscow I think it is running 8 weeks.    We are at 4 weeks right now and I think I will be another 4.   When I planned the trip I am making in two weeks I had hoped to be able to go over packet 3 with her and prepare for the interview which I planned to be the following trip.   I thnk I will just have to download whatever I can and take it on my trip to go over with her.

Where can I find download information for Moscow processing?

Kevin (actually looking forward to this - it means she will be here soon...)

Clyde,

Have you discussed this issue with the lawyer?  Have you mentioned that you are unhappy with his services?  In most business situations when a customer is short changed on product or services, a refund of his payment is expected.

Frankly, I wouldn't sit still for this, he might hem and haw, but you certainly didn't get the level of professional service you paid for.  I'd be asking for some, or all, of my money back.

jb,

If you have ever had to deal with lawyers they will never admit they made a mistake.

He is sticking to his story that the people in the mailroom or the examiner at VSC could have easily lost or misplaced the document. The mailroom employees are probably low wage employees and what they see are nothing more than a bunch of papers.

I don't think I will ever know who lost the document.

TurboGuy,

I will ask her to wait until May 23 (the 4th week) and if she has not received Packet3 I will contact the Consulate. They prefer email to phone calls anyway and I now have a case number.

Clyde,

That story won't wash, if he had done the package properly, i.e., submitted it bound in a folder with all documents attached with the ACCO binder, nothing could have been lost.

He simply screwed up you application.  He needs to get over himself and go chase some ambulances where he won't f*ck up somebody's life.

I have to agree with JB.   These are filled with the ACCO binders and perhaps some photos could come out of the bag they were in but there is no way a copy of a birth certificate or any document type things could be lost.

Clyde,

Hope your process moves along despite the stumble. For future reference, I would advise against taking an attorney to your future AOS interview. We breezed through ours - but the couple next door brought a Harry Carey and were getting grilled, as if they were concealing some unlawful skeleton, and doubtless paid for the additional aggravation.

If your lady has received packet 3 from Moscow Embassy then you will be on this list:

That is not necessarily true Ron.    YAHOO - YAHOO - YAHOO  I am so excited I can't sit still.   My gal recieved her packet 3 today.   She has not been home to see it yet.   Her mother called her and told her it was there so I don't know the date of her interview yet but it is exciting to see more progress.

She is not on the embassy list yet Ron.   Actually there is no one within two weeks of our case number date on the list yet.   I have been checking that list daily.   I remember as a kid getting very excited over Christmas but it was nothing like this.

Well Turboguy, I guess you are not behind me after all.

I feel very happy for you .

When I phone Irina today I will suggest that I email the Packet3 to her so she can get started on it until the actual Packet3 arrives.

So much for attorneys, I will never recommend anyone use them.

I seem to think I am running 2 weeks behind you because of that blasted RFE.

Apparently you and your lady communicate more often than Irina and I or you are more astute about this process. It pays to be ahead of the game.

Tguy,

Congrats, I am happy for you...   :):):)

List I posted is from last week.  I will give you updated link: http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/wwwhci4.html

I am still waiting.  Is now 18 days since notice of approval from NSC.

I did send her list of contents of med exam and interview...

She has gone to her clinic and got updates of all immunizations, she has made application for police reports (one from Y-O, one Moscow).  So we are getting prepared for eventuality of getting packet 3..

Ron

Clyde,

You needn't get discouraged over a couple of weeks, you have the rest of your life to catch up.  Remember the old Chinese proverb, "Slowly catchee monkey".

It will all happen, sooner or later.

P.S., BTW, my wife attended our number one son's graduation commencement last night. They have rented a car for the week, (his is a piece of crap), and are going to do some sight seeing at Arches National Park tomorrow, and see some other sights before she returns next Wenesday.

Married life is good if you are able to build a family out of it.

My interpretor keeps saying it is too early for her medical exam. The acceptable doctors are all listed in the Packet3 which has not been received yet (12 days from approval at NVC). Isn't the madical and police report required for the interview not necessarily before the interview date is set?

Turbo are you settled down yet?

Congratulations, now most of your worries are over.

I don't drink vodka but I propose a toast to your good luck and I do drink wine or champaign for a special occasion such as this.

Clyde,

Sounds like you and I are on close pace for interview in Moscow.

I think the date of police reports will be within context of interview date..  So I told her to go ahead and get started...

Med. exam; we will attempt to make appointment for two days prior to interview.  There is a list on Moscow embassy site.   There are 4 to choose from.   I will write to some other men and find what is best.

Yes, I have quit jumping up and down.  I can't sit too still yet, but I am calming down.

We have pretty good communications.   She sends me instant messages on her cell phone and I answer her in the internet.   Sometimes we have 20 messages a day.  Today we have had more than that in the past hour or so.   It is a great way to communicate.   She can't understand me too well on the phone so it is the best thing for us.  I beleive we are around 2000 messages total.

She is probably about due for a panic attack.   She gets nervous about gamling on a big change in her life, but she is doing fine.   I will post something later in the pre-nup discussion that I thought was interesting.   I will give you a short synopsis here.  She wants a pre-nup to make sure she has enough money to rebuild a life there if it does not work out.   I was worried about hurting her feelings by suggesting one and she solved the problem for me.
