Who's all here?
« on: February 07, 2007, 05:59:41 PM »
Hello,

I'm an old member of RWG.  I stopped by there, but didn't see too many familiar names.  I have seen a few familiar names here, though, so I'll probably hang out here while I try to decide what to do.

I came back because I'm contemplating relations with a woman I met in Russia in 2002.  We started communications again recently through a fairly bizarre set of circumstances after about 18 months of silence.

I'm not sure if I'll stay or go, but I thought I'd at least drop in to see if the process and the discussion is the same now as it was then.

I was not yet around in 2002, but a lot of the familiar faces might have been.

Since I had the audacity to comment on a couple of Makkin's threads, I thought it would be a good idea to re-introduce myself more thoroughly.

I first found RWG in 2001 after a failed relationship with a Lithuanian girl in Chicago.  The circumstances by which I met this woman were spectacular in that I was asked by the father of a friend of mine to marry this woman sight unseen.  He was grateful that this Lithuanian woman was so kind to his sick wife that he wanted to find a way to keep her in the country and to allow her children to emigrate.

At the time, I was willing to meet this woman but I was not the slightest bit prepared for marriage. (financially, spiritually, mentally)  We spent about 3 weeks in the wildest emotional ride of my life!!  Unfortunately, she saw how unprepared I was and called off the wedding a week before the event.  (after I had told my family and friends)  She then disappeared completely and I never saw her again.  Nor did my friend's father.

Elena was the most beautiful and caring woman I ever met, so I spent some time trying to find her.  At the end of my journey, I discovered a site named "Lithuanian Singles" which is a landing site for American Singles.  I did not find Elena but I found many other women looking for men for marriage.

After much letter writing and about 6 months of time, I managed to narrow down my search to one person with a backup in Novosibirsk.  I saved my money and flew there two weeks before 9/11.  The woman that I met did not like me and I knew it immediately yet I let her hold me hostage for most of the trip.  Had I not met some very accomodating ladies at a nightclub the last night of my trip, I probably would have ended my search then.

I've been to Russia four times since.  The last three times, I saw the same woman.  We went through the Visa process, but she got cold feet after I got fired from my job in October 2004.  I cared for her, but I didn't know how much so until recently, when she tracked me down in Texas after 18 months of silence.

Now, I'm trying to decide whether I should get back together with her.  Her timing in contacting me is curious, but her demeanor is the same sweet childish woman I knew from my first encounter with her.  As a result, I'm somewhat torn.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my experience and I'm encouraged to see some of the same stalwarts from the old RWG that are still married and reasonably happy.  (CaptB, jb, AJ, Jetrim, KenC, etc...)  Many thanks to them for sticking around and sharing their experience with the rest of us!!

But I don't remember you, coco.  Hopefully, I will remember you later.

I remember Rvrwind, though.  Still living with the missus in Tver, Richard?
