about to submit I-129F
« on: April 22, 2005, 09:16:02 AM »
To anyone who's submitted and had K-1 approved:

I'm trying to do this thing right, and I'm not sure how picky they will be about the binder presentation. ACCO makes about a bazillion types of binders, side mount, top mount, etc.  I know the papers have to be punched at the top with some kind of fasteners, any suggestions would be a big help.

Thanks.

Use the ACCO top mount fastner.  That's what they want.

Just make sure if you use photo copies of filled out documents that they have ORIGIAL SIGNATURES on them.  I would suggest you use blue ink so that there is no question if the 1-129F and both G325A's have original signatures.  If you send photo copies of those docs with photo copied signatures you will get an RFE (Request For Evidence) notice

The instructions indicated one should use black ink.  Suppose the signature could be in blue...

Fortunately, I sent in originals...

Holding my breath.

For K-1 petition, I used folder and clear plastic insert pages.

Then do not have to hole punch any document, just slide document into clear plasic page..  Sent originals of  129 and 325.   Sent copies of passports, birth certificates, divorce documents, military discharge.   Sent copies of some emails, travel documentation, photos of her and I (one from photo studio, one from us in Kazan). Be sure to include letter of intent to marry that is signed by her and you...

I was surprised..  Reciept I-797 was dated 16 Feb, '05.  Approval was dated 19 April, "05       NSC.   Now we wait for interview date....

For what it's worth, my attorney (if you trust attorneys) has told me they don't really care so much about a neatly presented petition.

They want the papers to be neatly arranged and a simple holder will do. My attorney clips the papers together at the top and sometimes places cardboard in front and back to keep everything together.  No 3 hole punch binder just a simple folder with a pocket and everything arranged in a logical sequence should do.

The examiner will tear through the documents (if they are like the people I work with) and will take about 15 minutes to examine the petition to see if everything is complete.

All they want to do is skim through it quickly so they can move on to the next case.

It's like an assembly line and you have to think about the volume of work they receive.

I sort of trust my attorney on this because he has visited the VSC to see the employees in action.

Clyde,

Another thread where we discuss your lawyer??

FWIW, I have previously cited here the USBCIS web page where they describe what the application should exactly look like in great detail.  If your lawyer told you it doesn't need to be in a two hole ACCO binder, just arrainged neatly, he hasn't a clue as to what he's taking money for.

People like him should be put out of business.

jb,

I'm through discussing the lawyer. Hopefully yesterday is the last time I will have to deal with him. I just posted what he told me and he prepares a lot of fiance visa's.

I plan to keep on top of this from now on and the AOS will be done by me.

Btw,

I will use attorney for prenuptial agreement.  And that is all he needs to know of my involvement and relationship with RW fiancee.
