Simple Russian Visa Question
« on: April 17, 2007, 09:54:21 AM »
I'm ordering a 30-day double-entry tourist visa for my to Russia this summer. They ask for your dates of arrival and departure. Do you have to put down the departure date on your airline ticket? Mine is just 18 days after my arrival, so I thought to mark off a full 30 day period. The reason is this: what if Aeroflot cancels their flight, and I have to go back to the airport for the night? Wouldn't I have to pay fines if I stayed beyond the date on my visa, even under such circumstances? How do you mark down your departure dates?

Thanks,

For the Russian tourist visa, you can get a sheet printed out from the travel agency stating you departure for Russia for a later date.  Then after you have the visa and actually purchase the tickets, get them for the date you plan to leave.  That way, you can have extra days on the visa.  Also, the hotel reservation should match the longer period.  Then, when you actually book the hotel, change it to the shorter period.
