I'd been resisting watching this movie for a long time, but last night my wife and I caught it on HBO and we both found it unbearably moving, she was in tears for a long time afterwards.

We'd seen Oliver Stone's World Trade Center a few months back but I thought it was cliched and didn't really capture the scale of 9/11, but probably any re-enactment would be a little flat compared to the real thing.

Why am I posting on a Saturday night? My wife's at a graduation party for her English class, it's our first night apart in the 4+ months since she arrived. I'm having some friends over to drink pivo and watch the hockey playoffs, I guess I should feel liberated but man, I miss her and she's only been gone an hour.

Groove, perfectly normal. I remember being married for almost one year when I had to take a business trip to Arizona. First time we were apart for longer than a few hours. I was truly uncomfortable. Worried the whole time. After the 10th trip it was, Ahhhh.

This is my first marriage but before I began testing the waters of the FSU I had a live-in gf of 3 years. Believe me, when it was open-mike night at some of the more desperate clubs in lower Manhattan and I wasn't being forced to come out and endure yet another endless night listening to some of the most pretentious and godawful musicians on the planet to "support" her, I was in seventh heaven.

The difference here, and I'm guessing some of the other married guys have had similar experiences, is that outside of work I haven't spent any time apart from my wife in her four months here. Not a solitary trip to the supermarket, not a stroll around the block alone - nada. I think any of you guys in the planning stages should know up front that when your fiancee arrives you can pretty much forget about even the rare poker night with your friends, etc., that you enjoyed with your Western gf, at least until she's comfortable and has her own network of friends.
