Vodka

The wife and I just tried zYr vodka, which they are now carrying in our area. For those of you who miss good Russian vodka, this will make you forget all about Stoli! It ain't cheap ($32.99 here) but it reminds me of my favorite from the motherland ;). Liliya stated with much conviction - "this is perfect russian vodka" so you have an expert's opinion as well as mine :P

I don't recall ever seeing that brand on a shelf in my local liquor store, but I'll keep an eye open for it in future.  I have a source for pretty good vodka; my step-son brings me a couple of bottles every time he visits.  My favorite is "Russian Standard", (silver label only, brown label is a no-no).

Speaking of step-sons, I have to brag just a little.  Number one son is graduating this Friday from U of Utah, MSEE, (Etna is flying out this afternoon to attend). And number two son had been accepted for an internship at the National Labratory in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he will spend the summer working in applied physics and advanced math.  There are a very limited number of slots for students, and for a Russian boy to be selected is quite an honor.

So far, he's looking more and more like a summa cum laud, (red diploma).  He's now completed his third year at Moscow State University with a 5.0 GPA. I couldn't be more pleased and proud of him if he were my own flesh and blood.
