Up until a couple of days ago, if someone asked me where Kazan was, I would have guessed Middle East, or in the Movie Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

I have learned a little.  Seems nicer than I would have thought (anyone see the movie Borat? he he he )

So, has anyone ever ventured to this place?  KAZAN 

Got a WOVO deal going.

What did you learn about Kazan that appealed to you? I assume it's not because it's one of the leading areas in Russia for polyethylene production and that they have pipelines that flow from the city to carry the polyethylene to other regions and that it's a rather "soiled" area of Russia?

Do you understand that the Borat movie is based on the country Kazakhstan, and that Kazan is a city in Russia. Two different places. Are you writing to a girl from Kazakhstan?

I have read enough to know that I am breaking all the established rules.

I have communicated with one girl for 2 weeks. 
She immediately gave me her real email - not agency. 
and her phone. I have spoken on the phone several times. 
She impressed me with more than her looks.

I feel a connection, and a need to be wreckless.   
Not in love, just want to see.   
Would need more time to make sure she is real. 

She said she is going to take a vacation  in summer.  If things continue, maybe I invite her with me someplace?

I don't know dude, you might have something here.  Just pay attention to the details.  having a phone nr is quite a bit.  Hey, if you can communicate fairly good over the phone, half the battle is won.

There are other pitfalls - hang close to this board if you need help - hook up with Anastassia on here.  She can do some digging for you as well.  Sometimes a penny spent now is hundreds saved later.

This particular woman has impressed me and surprise me.  If I write a 500 word email, she rifles one right back with personality and charm.

It's ok to travel here as soon as you don't joke about religion, nationalities and political things.
Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan(Tatar is not a sauce, it's a nationality), 2 main religions are Islam and Christianity.(~50/50)

If you make the wrong decision, wreckless won't be cheap. You could also be lonely after a bad first date sitting in your apartment/hotel alone with no idea how to get anywhere in Kazan.

The best way to determine if a woman is not a scammer or gold digger is to call her often. If she is not enthusiastic to hear your voice everytime, she's not truly interested in you or you're simlply boring her on the phone in which case you need to move on to someone that fancies you. Scammers and gold diggers can't be enthusiastic with guys who call often for very long unless you are talking dollars, vacations and gifts.

If you decide to meet the woman, tell her your decision and ask her if coming to her town is a good idea. If she suggests Paris, then that's a red flag. If she wants you to meet her parents and friends, then that's a good sign she wants their approval and thinking of you as a future mate instead of only a date... to Paris.

If you folks of color have a problem with that,,, get it on right now.  Truthfully,,, I have no respect for someone who has no regard for his own past, present, or future.  If a black man isn't happy enough with his own race to marry another black woman, in other words, if he needs to go outside his own race to express his sexuality, he needs to see a shrink, not an MOB marriage agency.  He ain't normal,,, he's crazy.  The same might be said of a white women who prefers black over white. I've always held a different perspective. Not claiming it is correct - only that it is mine. I traveled extensively throughout Asia (in addition to Europe and Ukraine). I know many MANY western men who are quite happily married to Asian women - and some who are happily married to Latinas. While true that I only married women who possess the same skin color as my own - I never excluded ANYONE from consideration. I have spent substantial time with women who have much different appearance than mine - and if I had found someone whom I wanted to share my life with - I honestly believe it would have made no difference if she were Asian, Hispanic, or Black. Sure, it would have added complexity to the children of the marriage - and there would have been the potential for conflict and tensions due to the bigotry of others - but for the 'right' lady, it would have been inconsequential.

I realize this is hypothetical at this point - but as an Uncle to several children (adopted) of mixed race (now adults with children of their own) for more than a couple of decades now - I have at least a little experience with the subject of mixed race issues.

To the OP.

Kazan is an overnight train ride from Moscow. As mentioned it is the capital of Tatarstan. It happens to be a very nice city, and has upgraded nicely over the last few years. I lived there for 6 months back in 2003.

It does have a Kremlin, although not much to look at. The main attraction is the center, or Bauman Street, where you'll find a lot of shops, restaurants, and some discos. It does have a new sports complex and arena close to the center as well.

Getting around the city is relatively easy using any means of buses, trolleys, etc.

You will also find a mix of Russian and Tatars (some Muslims) which I liked myself. The women there I found quite beautiful as well, and very nice. the population is 1m+

As far as prices, its much cheaper than Moscow, and it would be easy to find an apt not far from the center for $3-400 a month short term. You shouldn't have any problem finding anything you need with respect to food, fun, etc.

If you do decide to go you'll find it very safe to stay there, so I wouldn't worry to much about that. I found it extremely easy to meet woman there, and most of the people like foreigners and don't see/meet many Americans for instance. Good luck
