Greetings from Alaska
« on: June 29, 2007, 04:35:17 PM »
Hi folks, I'm new to this board but have been sort of pursuing a UW relationship with the right woman for over a year.  Course I haven't found her yet.  Last year I was off to a rocky start, my own fault for not teaching myself the ropes.  I started with HRB and corresponded with a beautiful lady.  I decided to make the trip and HRB would not give me contact info because I had not used up enough credits.  Aparently you have to spend approx $2500 before they let you get to the next step (in their words before we feel you're serious enough in this relationship).  Make a long story short, I protested, jumped up and down, argued to no end with Patrick from HRB on another board....searched marriage sites for weeks and eventually found her and contacted her directly only to find that HRB had already contacted her and told her I was cheap, bad news, and wasn't willing to commit to a relationship because I was too concerned over money.  Well...she (whom I still believe to be an honest, good girl) told me to search elsewhere.

So here I am again.  Been on RWD a total of 12 hours now mostly reading and learning.  I really don't like the descriptor of the AM looking for a RW as being a looser.  I am a successful business man and have no problems finding AW to date....some have been 20 yrs younger than me.  I won't go into reasons why I choose UW/RW over AW, I think I share similar views as others in this forum in that respect.  I am planning an October trip to Ukraine (Poltava and Dniper).  I have been corresponding with a few ladies from that area and now I'm getting closer to a #1 for me.  I know ONLY a face to face meeting will really tell if it's right or not.  I just started learning Russian using Rossetta Stone and hope to have some basics down soon.  I look forward to reading TRs and of ppls experiences in this crazy process and hope to contribute my share.  Anyone been to Poltava or Dniper??....I would appreciate some tips.  Thanks  Johnny

Hello Dup,
seems I'm the first to welcome you ^_^
I'm also a newcomer, in a way, since I've only been here 2 or 3 months and still have to make my first trip to the FSU (but I'm going to meet my friend -possibly soon-to-be girlfriend, if things go right- I. at the end of July ^_^).
As you already know this is a great place to learn and find out every thing that you need. In general, just keeping your head cool and being sensible works miracles ^_^

Another nail in HRB's coffin. If you search for them is this forum, you'll find plenty of uncomplimentary reports on them.

Out of curiosity, did you consider searching in the Vladivostok area, off the beaten track for most but closer for you ;)?

Yeah, ya don't wanna get me started on HRB.....I have nothing good to say about them.... >:(  At least they didn't get much from me.  Didn't take long to see their disguise.

As far as Vladivostok.  I really didn't even think about it.  Now ya got me thinking again dammit.... :wallbash:    I hate it when I do this....  I guess really it would depend if I can get direct flights from Alaska to Vladivostok, then I could really make more frequent trips.  At the moment, a trip for me to Ukraine takes me to Seattle, New York, France then Kiev.  20hrs...blyuck.....

dup,

As far as I know there are no direct flights into Vladivostok from the US.  You would have to go through Korea or Japan.

It may turn out to take much less than 20hrs, and be cheaper too. Worth investigating, anyway, IMHO. Also, local girls may take more kindly to Alaska's climate, they are pre-frozen ;).
