Simoni, how is the weather there? We spoke with Anna's mother yesterday in Kharkov, and she said the weather was quite cool, with highs reaching the lower 70s

Groove, I like Baltika.  But the only place I can find it is at the local pizza place.  They only have Baltika 3; the stores don't have Baltika at all. And the pizza place requires it be opened and not s soboy (to go).  So can you see me, walking down the street, drinking 4 bottles of Baltika at the same time?

But hey-- I was thinking of going down, not up, on the number!!!  ;D  LOL

Yes, the last few days here have been great...but today it turned hot.  I'm thinking around 85 or so by the way it feels....

We escaped the heat into our air conditioned flat.  We'll see Marina's mother off to the train to the Black Sea at 7 p.m.; should be nicer by then.

With the Ukranian word

HOBA

on the bottle

which means NEW !

Guess it was all a marketing ploy ...  letting supplies run out and making people want it.

Guess I'll have to quit those 4 beers for lunch and just have them at five now, instead  :D

LUNCH- ITALIAN STYLE

We just finished lunch at Portofino, an Italian restaurant at MOCT City Center, second floor.  We shared a salad, soup and lazona for 8 bucks. The food and presentation were outstanding.  Plush environment with Italian music.

I have my eye on the T-bone steak...think we will return soon.

In a bit of homesickness, I had 2 bottles of Corona Extra :-). Marina helped- her chez beer was bitter.

BTW-- that steak is on the menu at eight bucks...  :D

Recognize this guy, anyone?

If not, ask your girl to read this billboard to you.  First one who posts the name wins a free beer on me.  ;D

Ha ha!   I'm looking like a native now! LOL

BTW-- I can't believe the percentage of guys who are drinking at they walk down the street-- 30% maybe.  And I've seen two guys drop their beer bottle, curse and walk on, leaving the mess behind!

In addition to Nicolas, this girl is selling, too.  Is this more provocative than what we see in the USA?

Death by Food

MAMA IS TRYING TO KILL US!

MIL has gone cooking crazy.  She cooks and cooks and cooks.  Marina says she is trying to kill us.  And Marina remembers the reality TV shows and suggests we might make one called "Kill Me with FOOD."

Last night we had stuffed peppers (rice and veggies and meat inside) and more Borsch.  It was delicious BTW  :D

I took a picture for you newbies, so you can see what MIL's cooking will look like someday :-)

TRAIN TO THE BLACK SEA

After dinner, we walked MIL to the train station.  She is going with friends on a ten day vacation to the Black Sea.  She is thrilled, and we will be happy to have less food to eat!  LOL  :D

Here's a pic of the train station; taken at 9 p.m. last night as she left....
